Coach Nick Sirianni

Weekday Press Conference

Q. Nick, any update you can share with us on Jalen?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, still in the protocol. Going to be tough for him to make it this week.

Q. Is it as simple as if he's cleared he'll play or does it reach a point where Kenny has gotten all the reps...

NICK SIRIANNI: Again, not going to get too much into that. He is still in the protocol.

Q. How has Kenny handled the reps this week?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, I think he's had a nice week of practice and has done a nice job. Had some good practices and walk-throughs this week.

Q. What does it mean to have a full week with him getting those first-team reps as far as versus last week when he has to come in cold?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, any time you got to work our plays against the defense that you're playing against with the guys you're going to be going with, that helps you.

So that is our philosophy in practice. Everyone's philosophy in practice. Yeah, it was, like I said, a good week of practice.

Q. Nick, the Cowboys ruled out CeeDee Lamb. Does that change anything?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, he's a phenomenal football player. Any time you're going against a dynamic player like he is, you're obviously thinking about ways you don't allow him to beat you and ways to take him away.

So obviously part of our thought process and our game planning, you know, is a part of that, and so you adjust as you need to.

Q. CJ in particular, perhaps Jalen Carter, do you think you can I guess develop a reputation with officials where they're looking for things that...

NICK SIRIANNI: I think the officials do a great job refereeing the game. It's a hard job. I don't think that -- I think every crew is a little bit different, but I think that they're always trying to do the best job with the things that are happening in the game without putting anything else out there as far as a bias or anything like that.

That's what they're paid to do and they do a good job of that and we have good officiating.

Q. AJ got added to the report with the knee again this week. Anything going on there?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, he's obviously on there. See how today goes.

Q. On targets, AJ and DeVonta pretty much had the lion's share last week. Is it more of an emphasis to get more people involved?

NICK SIRIANNI: You know, those two guys are phenomenal football players. You know, sometimes they're first in the read, sometimes second in the read, sometimes they're third in the read. You know, you're trying to get them the football, get Saquon the football.

We've always said that the pass game runs through them. You know, good things happen when the ball gets in their hands.

Q. Thinking back to when you originally traded for Kenny, what was the impetus for that? What motivated you guys to go after that?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, we really liked the player. We really liked the things that -- liked him coming out of college and the things he did with experience as an NFL starter.

So heard great things. Hear great things about him when you do all the draft work and that stuff. Yeah, fit us well.

Q. (Regarding Braden and Jake - kickoff.)

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, good question, Zach. I think Braden has done a nice job and been able to place the ball where he needs to place it.

Again, like I said, last week weather was a little bit different. Some of the distance comes off that in the cold. We're happy with where Braden is.
