San Jose Sharks 2, Chicago Fire FC 1
Q. How do you balance the emotions of tonight? You get the big goal for you personally but the team lost. So how do you balance those emotions?
BRIAN GUTIÉRREZ: I mean, it's a good milestone for me, but obviously we didn't get the three points that we wanted tonight. That's the most important for the team, and we just want to bounce back and keep on winning these games upcoming at home, three big home games, and we need to win them all.
Q. A few weeks ago you told me how much you were looking forward to and building towards that first goal. Now you finally have it, but not the situation you wanted to be in. Does it feel like a weight off your shoulders that you can now kick on and start scoring more consistently?
BRIAN GUTIÉRREZ: For sure it's a big weight off my shoulders like you said. Just looking forward to many more games and impacting, for me and my team, and just trying to win games as much as possible and reach the playoffs.
Q. Do you dedicate this goal to anyone?
BRIAN GUTIÉRREZ: To my family. They are the most important thing that I have. All the sacrifices and support they gave me throughout the years and growing up, this is for them.
Q. You've emerged this season as a pretty dangerous attacker and you're starting to make waves and building a reputation, but at the same point, the Fire are where they are in the standings. How do you balance those emotions that you're really proving yourself as a pro, and a good pro, but the team is not really succeeding?
BRIAN GUTIÉRREZ: Just taking day-by-day, like motivating myself and my teammates, and trying to be the best pro I can be and helping the team succeed to get these points.
I know we are not in the best situation right now, but I think this team and the mentality we have is just keep looking forward and trying to win the most games as possible and try to reach the playoffs.
