MEGAN KHANG: Charley, did playing me in singles really have like a huge impact in your round today?
CHARLEY HULL: Sorry, say that again.
MEGAN KHANG: Playing me in singles, like you beating me in singles at Solheim Cup, did it give you that confidence you needed to shoot 6-under?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it made me very, very confident knowing that I beat you, Megan. It made me feel really confident as well that you was in front of me, comfortable as well knowing that my friend was in front of me as well.
Even though he held me up on a couple holes.
MEGAN KHANG: I see you had a bogey on 12. No. (Laughter.) I don't want to talk about it.
Q. All right, here with Charley Hull after her first round at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G. Really solid round from you. Just what kind of went into the round today?
CHARLEY HULL: I felt like I played pretty solid. It was quieted weird. Last week at home I didn't hit a golf ball for like five days because I was bed-bound I was so poorly. After the Solheim Cup I had the flu, I had sickness and everything, and I nearly pulled out of this week because I felt like I wasn't prepared enough.
And then I come over to have America on Saturday. I've had like some sponsor stuff up until Monday, Tuesday actually, and got in here late Tuesday night.
So it wasn't really the best prep, but actually I come in here with no expectations and felt like I hit it pretty well tee-to-green and putted decent.
Q. 17 I chipped in from the sand. Told Adam, what is it, the line of the week maybe?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it's on that leaf. Oh, okay. So I hit it on the leaf, it rolled over the leaf and went in. I'm like, great read, Adam.
Q. What is it about this event that keeps you coming? 20 years on the LPGA Tour. What is it about this community or tournament that's so special?
CHARLEY HULL: It's really cool. In America coming from England I feel like it's quite spread out and I don't get that villagy-towny feel. Here I feel like the whole community gets into the event and it feels like a town vibe like in England, so I quite like that.
Q. Obviously a birdiefest at this course. How do you keep that momentum going?
CHARLEY HULL: You got to keep the putter hot. Just go out there and enjoy it. Loads of birdie opportunities and just go out and have some fun.
Q. Can you give us some insight into the Solheim Cup celebrations?
CHARLEY HULL: I literally got back and went down the team room for food and went to bed. My boyfriend was drunk, so wanted to stay at the party. I was like, you can stay at the party instead of coming to bed with me. He was really drunk. A lot of the team was drunk. It was great night.
But I was feeling so poorly. I had like tonsillitis the whole weekend of Solheim, so I just wanted to get to bed.
Q. Does the adrenaline from that event carry over into this week?
CHARLEY HULL: No. I feel like you're in bit of a downer because obviously the adrenaline and then last week was a crash. This week actually feels nice to come out on the golf course with not a whole load of nerves, if you know what I mean, that the Solheim Cup products.
Q. Did you go to the team continue I remember with Mel this week?
CHARLEY HULL: No, I didn't. I was pretty tired.
Q. Yeah, no worries. Last one. What was the inspiration to change your hair to go darker?
CHARLEY HULL: I don't know. I just felt like I wanted to do it. My boyfriend didn't want me to do it so it made me want to do it more. So I done it and then I kind of regretted it. Now I'm kind of liking it. I will go back to blonde hopefully just after Christmas.
