Press Conference

Q. Welcome back to the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open. Talk about being back.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, so I got here in the evening, went out and played four holes that evening, and yesterday we just played nine holes. The golf course is actually a lot of firmer than we played in previous years. A few funky bounces, but fun and challenging in a different kind of way.

Q. What challenges does it present for you, and what suits your game?

CHARLEY HULL: You have to be precise where you're pitching it because you can get random bounces and also release a lot more in different parts on the golf course. You have to be more strategic, shall I say.

Yeah, I think it suits me. Like it's good prep going into next week.

Q. I feel like you're getting more and more confident on links golf?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I'm kind of understanding links golf a little bit more in tournaments.

Q. Is there anything specific that you found that clicked for you?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, just kind of got out of my head that links doesn't suit me, and just try and make it suit me.

Q. Especially because you're very creative on the course?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it should do. But if you look at like the British Open, there's a lot of elements in it, and like British Opens always have like so many different kind of winners.

So I feel like there is a little bit of luck involved and a lot of patience involved because you can get bad bounces, and you can get -- have funky shots and stuff. So you just have to accept them and just kind of just deal with it.

Q. And I feel like there's no one better than you at moving on --

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, you have to forget about it and move on.

Q. So like last year, playing with Lottie and Nelly. Are you looking forward to that?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah I'm looking forward to that. I really like Lottie. She's such a nice, girl and it's nice that there's another English golfer on the Tour and she's doing so well. It's a pleasure to play with her. Practised with her in winter before camp. And Nelly, she's great for the Tour, great for sport, and yeah, she's lovely.

Q. Last year looked like you guys had fun on the course.

CHARLEY HULL: Last year, is that who I played with? I don't even remember.

Q. You probably had a lot of fun --

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, good.

Q. You said you played with Lottie in England camp, was that for the juniors?

CHARLEY HULL: That was about seven, eight months ago before Christmas when Team England was practising. They practised at her college campus, so we went there and I joined them for a few days.

Q. Would she be someone you'd be happy -- as a rookie -- to partner with in the Solheim Cup?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, definitely. Even though she's a rookie, she doesn't play like a rookie. She has all the confidence in the world, even though it's only her second year on tour.

Q. Have you played Lytham before?

CHARLEY HULL: Lytham, I played it after the U.S. Open. Just got a feel of the golf course.

Q. You played that in 2018.

CHARLEY HULL: 2018, and I played there in the Pro-Am a bit, as well, when I was nine or ten years ago with Morgan Pressel.

Q. How did you play when you played with Morgan Pressel?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it was good. I think the BBC had a few clips of me and stuff. It was a lot of fun.

Q. Did you beat her?

CHARLEY HULL: I don't think I beat her, no. I was only nine.

Q. You talked about understanding links golf; when did the switch flip for you?

CHARLEY HULL: I don't know really. It's something that you have to deal with. I love the U.S. Open. U.S. Open to me is the crème de la crème. The golf courses we play they just suit my eye so well and, links is just hard to visualise it. So you just have to really visualise it and trust yourself.

Q. You look so incredibly fit.

CHARLEY HULL: Thanks.

Q. Tell us what you've been doing.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I can't really go to the gym or anything. So I just have to eat healthy. It's a shame because I can't really go running because of my injuries at the minute.

Q. Just give us a litany of injuries.

CHARLEY HULL: Just when I tore my ligament in my ankle last year, and my back problem from that as well. And yeah, managing and eating healthy, people should eat more healthy because it's what you put in your body.

Q. What are four things you shouldn't eat?

CHARLEY HULL: Anything with processed sugar in it and anything that's processed. It's hard to avoid sometimes, but I like eating healthy. It's everyone's choice, you know.
