Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Nataliya after her second round victory at the T-Mobile Match Play. Can you just talk through what you saw in your game today? Looks like you got the lead and kind of held onto it for the majority of the match?

NATALIYA GUSEVA: Yeah, it was definitely fun to play with Megan. I played with her once in Canada and she's just a very nice, very good golfer. You go out there and you don't even feel like you're playing match play against each other.

But, yeah, I tried to really stay steady. She's a great golfer. Hits a lot of great shots and it felt like at some point like I had that lead and then I gave it to her; but then I knew that I have to stay in the moment and never give up because like matches are all about that, and just putting your personality out there and fight until the end.

In the end, yeah, finished 2-up and happy with that.

Q. Is there anything you're telling yourself too when you're in the battle to stay in it?

NATALIYA GUSEVA: Yeah, honestly, I mean, a lot going in my mind, I understand if I'm going to give it I'm going to really think about that for the whole day, probably for the whole week.

To me I'm always like that. I'm never giving up. I'm a big fighter. That's how I always been, especially when I was playing back in the day in the college golf for Kent for Miami.

Yeah, I mean, our coach taught us to fight until the end, and I think that's the most important thing.

Q. First time playing here, correct? Is there any memories you're bringing back from college days playing match play here?

NATALIYA GUSEVA: Yeah, definitely. From the junior golf we played a lot of match play events, like Spanish Championship. A lot of girls that I know from Europe also play on LPGA Tour right now, so it's so nice to see familiar faces and kind of have that match face on.

Just, you know, especially with a lot of tournaments like Solheim Cup and Walker Cup and Vagliano Trophy, it's kind of a good memory.

So just love being out here and playing on the best level out here.

Q. It looks like you now are in control of your own destiny. If you win tomorrow you move to the weekend. Does that put any extra pressure on you tomorrow against Albane?

NATALIYA GUSEVA: Not really. I think the most important thing for me, as today, I knew that I have to win to keep fighting for round of 16. I knew being in the moment and putting my best game out there is probably going to be just enough.

So definitely no expectations. I think golf is about having fun, and when you make it more difficult, it makes you think miserable out there. I don't want to have that feeling.

I just will to keep it easy and make it fun.

Q. So looking at your group when you first got here, those are three of the nicest people on Tour. Does that help your comfort level since you hadn't played here before?

NATALIYA GUSEVA: Oh, yeah, definitely. I mean, I know all the three girls and they're super nice. At the same time I knew that they're so experienced, all of them playing on Solheim Cup. I knew that this experience is going to help them, but at the same time, I know if I play well, I can beat here anyone.

So it's just nice to have, yeah, people who are super nice to you in the same time, so, yeah.

Q. On the other hand, they've all played here every year and this is your first time. Does that intimidate you at all?

NATALIYA GUSEVA: Not really. Not really. I feel like when we go out here we're kind of on the same level. Doesn't matter if like people played out here ten times. It's all about just being confident and believing in yourself.
