Q. All right, here with Lauren Coughlin; advancing to the round of 16 after a victory today against Lucy Li in the playoff. Talk about your match today. It was a close one looked like.
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, all three of my matches have been really close, kind of back and forth. I don't think I've ever been more than 1-up all week. I've down 2 at times, but kind of fought back in every one. Took it to 18 every day.
Yeah, I mean, I rolled -- started rolling it really well yesterday. Made a ton of putts today that kind of kept me in it.
Ina was playing really good. I think she was 3-under through 9 and I was like 2-down. Other than that I kind of just hung in there, and eventually -- the golf course is very hard and it's very easy to make some mistakes out there, and I kind of just hung in there and was able to outlast.
Q. Can you talk to like you said on the way in, you don't think anyone has played more golf than you. You've played a lot. And mentally too, never having a huge advantage. What do you think you're feeling right now mentally and physically?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I think, again, I've just stayed in every match, all of them. I'm feeling it a little bit. It's not an easy golf course to walk, so having to play 18 every day and then an extra one today.
But I'm excited to make the weekend for the first time in this event. It's one of my favorite events. So, yeah, I'm feeling really good.
Q. And you had a lot of energy at the Solheim Cup too with the matches. Just what do you think it says about you, your perseverance getting to this point?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: I think it's just what I always do. It's what I've always done throughout my whole career. I kind of always stay in it and fight until I can't anymore.
So I think, yeah, I just kind of, like I said, just stayed in it every single day. I didn't get it done yesterday, but I was able to get it done today.
Q. Does it remind you about your college days playing match play?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: We didn't play a ton of match play unfortunately until my fourth year when they switched it, NCAAs. But I always loved match play. When I grew up playing junior golf, Virginia would play Maryland in like a match play and then the Virginia and Maryland would team up again the Carolinas, and so I fell in love with it at a very young age. Playing in the Virginia Women's Amateur was match play and I always loved it.
It's so much different. You can take on so much more risk. The strategy is a bit different, and it's just a lot of fun.
Q. Lauren, you talk about how you've played more than anyone this week seems like. You're going to play Sei Young Kim in the next round, who hasn't trailed the whole week. Do you think it's an advantage to having been through the wringer for a few days, or does it really not matter?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: I think you're only playing who you're playing. I don't know what her matches were, if who she was playing wasn't playing well or if she was playing super good and didn't matter who she was playing she was probably going to win.
Sei Young is so good, so I'm excited to get to play her tomorrow.
Q. Does it concern you at all that you've already had to expend so much energy both mentally and physically with possibly four more matches to go?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: No. I think it's probably what I'm best at. I'm very mentally tough and like I said, I fight. I always have.
Yeah, I mean, I'm going to try and get some really good rest tonight and just kind of see what happens.
