Q. Could you start by taking us through the highlights of your round today?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Highlights? I guess the few birdies. Foursomes it's always a game of patience. Nice to hole quite a long one on 16. Had a nice one on 3 to bounce back after the bogey on 2 to kind of get the round going.
Other than that, was pretty steady today.
JENNIFER KUPCHO: Yeah, I think we hit a lot of greens, gave ourselves a lot of chances and stayed patient, and eventually they fell.
Q. How do you think that your game complements one another?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: I think we're both very similar putters, very similar players in general. I obviously have a little bit more length than her, but other than that, we're pretty similar.
We don't get too aggressive, I would say, on attacking pins. So we give ourselves lots of putts and kind of have our speed under control and kind of just make it easy on each other.
LEONA MAGUIRE: I think so. I think both very consistent. Don't have a lot of big misses. It was nice to sort of take advantage of Jen's length on the par-5s. She hit it way down on 3 which turned it into a par-4 for me.
Just tried to be patient and steady. It was up to me to drop a few. We'll see if we can do a few more as the day goes on.
Yeah, overall, we've played a lot of golf together. We've known each other over ten years probably. That's why we've played a lot of golf together. We know each other's games pretty well. It's quite a comfortable pairing.
Q. Bouncing off of that, how did this specific partnership come to be? And then what's your team name and why?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: I think I just asked her. Obviously, as you know, my partner last year, Ally, retired, so I had to find somebody new. I asked her first of the year. Yeah, it kind of just worked out.
Our team name is Irish Goodbyes. That would be made up by my caddie Josh. He obviously knows me really well and I do that a lot. And she's similar as well. It fit both of us.
LEONA MAGUIRE: We fly under the radar and just dip in and dip out. It summed us up pretty well. When he said that --
JENNIFER KUPCHO: It kind of just was easy.
LEONA MAGUIRE: And we've got a catchy song to tie in with it.
Q. Which is?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: Bye, Bye, Bye, obviously.
LEONA MAGUIRE: We will not be doing the cool dance. Josh might.
Q. Heading into tomorrow with the four ball format, how are you going to adjust your strategy?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: I think very similar: Just continuing to try and give ourselves putts, try and give ourselves all the chances we can. Two on each green, that's the best you can do obviously and make some putts.
Q. Obviously not your first time playing Midland Country Club. What is it about this event or the town or whatever it is that keeps you coming back?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I think it's a fantastic event. It's nice to see the community get behind it so much. There's a lot of kids out today. Golf course is in fantastic shape. It's a great part of the country. Jen's played well in Michigan; I've played well in Michigan. It's very similar to Ireland actually being so green and all the trees and everything and every everyone is so nice here, and the hospitality. The food has been great so far this week. It kind of has an elevated feel to it.
JENNIFER KUPCHO: I think obviously Dow being here in Midland, it's very much a Midland big event. I think everybody gets behind it, the whole community gets behind it. It draws out the crowds for sure on the weekend. It's really nice to come back with all the hospitality that they have here. Very friendly people, very big community event.
