Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: Joining me today are Jenny Bae and Robyn Choi at the Dow Championship. Can you talk us through your round today and any highlights you had? Obviously you went bogey-free. Anything to share about your round?

ROBYN CHOI: I think overall we just kind of played pretty consistent, kind of gave us a little opportunity in the beginning, and I think that kind of kept the momentum going throughout the round.

I think I made a few, couple long putts, which kind of got us through to 8-under today. Also Jenny kind of was there -- you know, when we were in trouble, we kind of helped each other out and was there. So I think it was a good team effort today.

Q. With the format today being different from yesterday, how did you feel like your strategy shifted, and how do you feel like it might shift more heading into the weekend?

JENNY BAE: I think, especially compared to yesterday, I think today I was able to be a little more aggressive. It helps a lot when she tees off first and she's always in the middle of the fairway. I can just unleash. I think that was really important for us.

Q. Do you want to share your team name and then also how this partnership came to be for this week?

ROBYN CHOI: So I was like asking around because like I am the most least creative person. Then the idea we got was that -- because her last name Bae in Korean is also pear, as in the fruit pear. Then we were trying to think of stuff from pear.

Very creative me, being an Aussie, we just went with Aussie Pear. That's how we got to be Aussie Pear this week.

Q. And then the partnership, how did you guys decide to partner together for the week?

ROBYN CHOI: Honestly, we like knew each other out on Epson. We played a couple of tournaments out on the Epson Tour, so we kind of knew each other then. I think we were both kind of looking, and in Mexico it was like, oh, do you have a partner? No, do you have a partner?

It kind of just naturally happened, nothing really special. I think, at the end of the day, kind of seems like it was meant to be. We were meant to be the Aussie Pear. So I think it kind of worked out this week.

Q. Is this your first time playing a team event?

JENNY BAE: For me, yeah.

ROBYN CHOI: I played last year. Yeah, I kind of like knew how this kind of format worked out. But like playing with a different player; it just seems like a different game. The nerves are still there. Even if I played it last year, it's still pressure and everything.

Q. Jenny, how unique is this event to you? How excited are you to be able to play in this format for your first time out here? A lot of players talk about how they kind of wish it was on Epson and just what a cool opportunity it is to play in this format this week.

JENNY BAE: It would be great if Epson Tour had anything similar to this type of format. It would be, one, fun; two, kind of build on relationships with other players.

Since this is my first, I was really nervous. I told her in the morning, like please, I'm going to try my best, but I am just shaking. Please don't blame me.

I think it also brought us two really closer together. So I think it's a really awesome tournament.

Q. How do you think she's doing in her first time?

ROBYN CHOI: I was really relying on her this week. I know she hits it far, so we kind of like put her on the longer holes where I can kind of have a shorter shot in, which I think really helped because I need that extra distance.

Overall, I think it's a very different -- like what we play individually, it's just like pressure on ourselves, but having a partner and trying to like fulfill that standard that we want to keep up for our partner as well, it's like a different kind of pressure. It's different, and I think it's a format that it would be great if we had more of it, honestly.

Q. How much does it remind you two of collegiate golf maybe?

JENNY BAE: We were talking about this for the past few days. We were like, this is throwback to college, especially just being in that team vibe again, just having to rely on someone else or feel like, okay, I've got to do well for her to do well. It's a great throwback.
