THE MODERATOR: Joining me today are Gemma and Cassie at the Dow Championship. Can you talk about your round today and any highlights that you might have had?
CASSIE PORTER: So many highlights. What was the highlight for you, Gem?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: I felt like we got going on the front there. We had a lot of good putts. I don't know that I could pinpoint one. Was it our first birdie on the 3rd?
CASSIE PORTER: Yes.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Nice to get going. We started with a couple of pars, but we kind of got on a roll after that.
CASSIE PORTER: We picked each other up really nicely. When I hit it over here, Gem was straight down the middle, when Gem was slightly off the middle, I was down the middle.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah.
CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, so it was great. We complemented each other really well today.
Q. You saw the course twice now in two different formats. How do you think it suits your game?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: I think, like Cassie said, we complement each other really well. I think we have different strengths and kind of play to those.
Obviously two different formats, but hopefully tomorrow we can do the same thing we did yesterday.
CASSIE PORTER: It's really fun playing together too. As you said, we have different strengths. Seeing how each other play the course, it's a little different, but it's a really good perspective. So I think it kind of helps us too.
Q. Cassie, with you being a rookie on the LPGA Tour this year, have you picked up any words of wisdom or insights from Gemma?
CASSIE PORTER: So many.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Do tell.
CASSIE PORTER: I'm not sure I can tell half of them here. No, it's been great. Gem's an amazing role model. We went for dinner last night, and obviously I sat there and was just like, when you asked me to be your partner, best day of my life. It's been really good.
Gemma is an amazing player, and being able to play alongside her is really special.
Q. Do you think there are any upsides or positives of playing with a younger player?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, I think it's nice -- she's obviously nice and fresh, so she's just excited for everything, which is great (laughter). Yeah, it's just exciting. She's never played this tournament before, and I've obviously been around the block a few years now. Yeah, it's just nice to take her under my wing and just go have fun out there.
CASSIE PORTER: We do have fun, a lot of fun, if you haven't noticed.
Q. That's what I was going to ask. You're probably two of the most positive people out here, I feel like, and have great spirits all the time. How does it feel playing together like that and surrounding yourself with people like that on Tour?
CASSIE PORTER: At the start of the week we both said, no sorries.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: She said sorry quite a few times. She actually -- (talking over one another) I had like a two-foot birdie putt left, and she knocked it in.
CASSIE PORTER: Well, she deserved it because she had a better shot than me. Yeah, no, it's been great. Yeah, no notes, yeah.
Q. Did you say too your strategy was a little bit today was somebody always was destined to make par and someone was more aggressive?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: I went first on every tee, just kind of got it down there, then she could smash it. Yeah, I was still going for birdies as well. I think we just had a good fight going.
CASSIE PORTER: We both made plenty of putts, which obviously helps in this format. You can go pretty low if you've both got the putter hot. I think we just made putts at the right time and helped each other out.
There was a couple holes we both made birdie and we were like, shame we couldn't have two.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: That could be a change for next year.
Q. Lastly, how much do you enjoy this tournament? It's a different atmosphere, especially coming from a major and going into a couple more majors. How much do you enjoy this event and almost wish there was more of this stuff out here?
CASSIE PORTER: I do wish there was more of this. It's a different vibe. Everybody is so happy to be out here. There's a little less pressure, less intensity.
As much as it's still an LPGA Tour event, for me, being my first year, I'm still fan girling that I'm even here.
It's just really relaxing. I've stepped on the first tee the last two days just laughing and more relaxed than I've been all year. Yeah, so that's a refreshing thing for me.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, it's definitely nice after last week because last week was a real grind. This is nice and relaxing. We can hit shots into the green and know where it's going, so it's nice.
Q. Two rounds down, two rounds to go. Tell me what you learned from the first two days here on the course.
CASSIE PORTER: We've played both formats now, so we both know what to expect. Well, I know what to expect. I'm just excited. Weekend golf is always fun, and being able to do it together is a really cool thing.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, yesterday -- well, I call it foursomes, alternate shot -- it's just nice and relaxing. I hit half the shots. It almost felt like I didn't do anything yesterday. It was like a half day, yeah. So excited for that tomorrow and, yeah, just go out and have more fun out there.
Q. What's kind of the mindset for going into tomorrow?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Obviously the alternate shot is a tougher format. Just go back to kind of steady golf but hopefully a few more birdies as well. Yeah, we'll just go back to our same mindset we had yesterday, but still having fun and supporting each other. I think that's the best thing about us too. We don't mind if someone makes a mistake. We're just kind of supporting each other. Just go out there and have some fun.
CASSIE PORTER: No notes. That's it. Thank you.
