THE MODERATOR: Andrea Lee, our 36-hole leader in the media center after back-to-back rounds of 66. Figured something out today about the golf course here. What's been working so well for you at Oak Valley?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I ever overall my game is just really solid. I was hitting fairways and greens and making as many putts as I can, and I made six today and six yesterday, so hopefully I can just keep the putter rolling and I think I'll be in a good position.
THE MODERATOR: Looking at your card, couple birdies on the front but not the fastest start and you finished with a flurry, three of your last four holes. Walk me through the last four holes.
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, gave myself a lot of chances on the back nine and missed a few. I was getting a little frustrated but managed to get one on the par 5 No. 15, and then 17, that pin was tucked back left but managed to hit to about 20 feet and made that and then stuck it to a foot on the last hole. It was nice to have that finish going into tomorrow.
THE MODERATOR: Looking at your ball-striking numbers, you hit 13 of 14 fairways the last two days. You hit every green yesterday and you only missed two greens today. That kind of ball-striking has been really critical around here. What is it that you found at Oak Valley in particular that's really suited your ball-striking.
ANDREA LEE: I really love the golf course here. The conditions are really nice. The greens are really fast and firm, which I think kind of plays to my advantage. I love fast greens. I managed to make a lot of putts, and yeah, my home course is pretty hilly, too, Palos Verdes Golf Club. So I'm used to these hilly lies that you see out here at Oak Valley, so I think that's also going to play to my strength as well.
Q. What was the difference between the last two years and this year?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I kind of struggled the last couple of years once turning pro, and looking back, I think I really needed those experiences to move forward. You know, I think I really have matured and grown as a golfer and as a person. So this year, I didn't think I was going to be able to play as many LPGA events as I have, and just being in this position, I'm really grateful for it. I think just the mindset has kind of changed over the course of the last couple of years, and just being patient. I tended to be really frustrated out there, especially last year.
Yeah, I think I've just been really patient and just trusted that the hard work that I have been putting in will pay off and it has definitely this season.
THE MODERATOR: Got your first win a few weeks, about a month ago actually now in Portland. As you look to do that here in Korea, what lessons did you learn about yourself, your game, coming down the stretch even playing on the weekend with a chance to win that you'll apply here.
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, in Portland, everything was just a great experience for me. That last round, I was 2-over through three holes and I was several shots back I think going into that back nine. But I just stayed really patient and I just kept going, not knowing what the result would be. You know, it added up with a win, and I think that experience is really going to help me going into weekend. I'm just going to do the same thing that I've been doing, just playing solid golf and just try to stay really patient out there.
Q. What is your ultimate goal as a golf player?
ANDREA LEE: I think my ultimate goal is reaching No. 1 in the world at some point in my career. I have a lot of goals. I want to win major championships. I don't want to stop at just one win. I think I've become even more hungry after that first win in Portland.
So I'm just going to keep going and keep grinding and keep trying to achieve the goals that I have and hopefully I'll get them one day.
