Lilia Vu

Quick Quotes

Q. Lilia Vu, who's 13-under through three rounds, two back of the lead right now. Just kind of evaluate your day. I know it was a little bit up and down out there.

LILIA VU: Ooh, I had the lefts today, and I think it was just a constant battle of trying to hit the fairway. Every single time I would hit the fairway, very few, I would be in a position to make birdie, so I'm going to go on the range and work that out a little bit before tomorrow.

Q. How do you make that adjustment on the golf course? I would imagine that's a little scary when it starts to happen like two or three holes in a row.

LILIA VU: It was definitely more than two or three holes in a row. It was basically the whole round. But I try not to overcorrect and then that will create a two-way miss. I'd rather just play with that until the end and then figure it out later because you never want to overcorrect on the golf course.

Q. In contention once again; this is a place I'm sure you've become quite comfortable this season. Is there anything you've learned from the other times you've been in the mix that you might apply to tomorrow?

LILIA VU: I mean, we all know what the end goal, like what I want to do, is win. Just not getting too far ahead of myself and just let the golf do its thing and then just try my best.

Q. What would it mean if that ultimate goal were to happen?

LILIA VU: I don't know. I think it would mean so much to me. Right before COVID or right during COVID, my grandpa passed away, and I was on the verge of quitting golf. I went to a Symetra event, and then once I landed back home -- we actually took an earlier flight back home anyways. I got a call from my aunt, and she was like, grandpa is at the emergency again, and he passed. I actually visited him before I went to my tournament, and the last thing he ever said to me and good luck and go try and win.

Q. Now that you have won, you've got three professional wins on the Epson Tour, obviously made him very proud. What do you draw off of those victories and maybe that advice as you look ahead to tomorrow?

LILIA VU: I mean, I feel like all three wins were super different. I know the win I'm most proud of was the one at Twin Bridges in New York because I remember getting super angry on the 8th hole, to the point where I like slammed my putter.

As I was walking from 8 to 9, I literally said to myself, grandpa would be so disappointed seeing you acting like this, and then I changed my mindset, instantly birdied 9, and then I told myself to just go have fun on the back nine, and then we came out with a win after that. Changing my mindset.

Q. I know you've played with Andrea the last couple days, fun group. Probably going to be paired together again tomorrow. Does that help the both of you? It seems like you've been playing good when you've been having fun and laughing and cutting up.

LILIA VU: I think she's an amazing player. I think she's one of the best out here. I mean, she thoroughly impresses me every time I play with her. I honestly think I play better with Andrea because she hits it so straight and she putts it so well. Hopefully we get paired again tomorrow.
