Q. First round in your title defense, Lydia. Overall, what do you take away from the first day here?
LYDIA KO: Yeah, I played really solid. Just a little -- not my -- not my finest drive on the last. But other than that, I played really solid. I gave myself a lot of good opportunities. And that's all you can do.
And I made the turn, and I saw the scores. And I was like, damn, like people are like 9-, 8-under par. And I was like, it's not this easy out here. But, you know, I just tried to have the best score I can, and obviously enjoying my time in Korea.
Q. How comfortable did you feel in your game out there today?
LYDIA KO: I felt better. You know, last week I had a couple rounds that were good, a couple rounds that were a little questionable. But I think for the most part, I feel like I'm trending in the right direction.
And to be honest, it's been frustrating at times just because I feel like it's better, but I'm not really -- I wasn't able to bring a lot of it together. And I know like today the scores are really low. But, you know, even so, I feel like I played solid.
And that's all I can do. And I think having more of those rounds under my belt is more important to me right now than, you know, what the leaderboard necessarily says about what place I'm in.
Q. What will you take away from this day as you head into the second day tomorrow?
LYDIA KO: Yeah, I feel like I'm playing a lot of solid golf. So just, you know, being confident and believing in myself, believing in the strategy. I think there are some shorter holes that you can take advantage, and obviously some that are tougher. So just playing smart.
But, yeah, it's a no cut event, I think somebody said it at the press conference, and I think it is an opportunity for you to be aggressive and maybe test a few things.
But, yeah, I feel like there was a lot of good things to take from today.
