THE MODERATOR: We are joined by the leader in the clubhouse, Sei Young Kim, here at the BMW Ladies Championship. If you have a question, raise your hand.
Can you just speak to today's round and what stood out?
SEI YOUNG KIM: I had really fun play today, especially playing with Hyo Joo. I know her very well, she's very funny. There was a lot of wind and as we went to the back nine, there was less wind.
She's the kind of person that will not be chasing me but she likes to talk a lot and relax a lot, and that's what I like to do as well but I also focus and I have to focus. She said yesterday in the interview that I might be chasing away from her but today we had a really good round together.
Q. A lot of the Japanese players are doing great this week. What do you think their strength is?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Well, in the past, many Japanese players were in the mid 20s but now we have many young players, teenagers, and we have young players who like to keep their play style as simple as possible. It seems that the Japanese players have really strong teamwork. The rest of other Japanese players -- like the Korean players, they are really competitive, and I think it has a positive impact on all of the players. I hope it has a positive impact on us to our Korean players do well and we can also have an impact.
Q. Can you specify by what you mean with the teamwork? And how did you overcome the bogeys?
SEI YOUNG KIM: What I mean by good team work is in the tournament, I can see there's a lot of staff members around Japanese players. It could be a trainer, I don't know specifically who they are but seems like a lot. One time in a hotel it seemed like the whole floor even for two or three Japanese players.
Today, I did start with a bogey today, and then followed by birdies. This course especially, if feels like if you miss a fairway, it might be bogeys. I just tried to focus on my tee shots and really keep on the fairway.
Q. Your score, 6-under par is a great number. You made a few birdies on the par 5s but not many on the par 3s. What's your take away on that?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Yes, so with the par 5s, I made it on in two, so those are birdie chances. On the par 3, I try to putt it as close to the pin but maybe the putting didn't go well.
Q. Today you played with Hyo Joo and a U.S. player. Seemed like the two Korean players, once you hit the tee shot or putting, it seems that the gallery was moving, even if our player was left to play, and I'm sure you have experienced that in China, too. What's your impression about this gallery culture in Korea? I'm sure there's some disappointment in that.
SEI YOUNG KIM: Yes, I mean, this event happens only once a year, and I think there's some local characteristics. If we play in Seoul, the galleries tend to be a lot quieter. On the south side of Korea, people are much more passionate and might express their feelings.
I think in general the gallery culture is improving in Korea. Of course from my perspective, I definitely appreciate all the support that the fans are giving, and we have great safety staff members who are keeping the order and manner well. So it's important that we play in a safe manner.
Q. So we have two more days to go, so please share your plan for the next two days.
SEI YOUNG KIM: So it seems that we are getting a lot of birdies on this course, so tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, it's important to get the birdies as much as possible. I hope to keep my play style as I did for the first day. Of course, there's a lot of pressure on the third and fourth day, but it's not just me. Everyone will have the same pressure. But I just want to accept the fact and enjoy the rest of the tournament.
THE MODERATOR: Can you just touch on your caddie and why you think you both work so well together? Is there anything that he does or helps you with out there?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Yes, we've been working for a very long time. He's probably one of the most hard-working persons that I know. So I have great trust in him, and he definitely has a big impact on play throughout the event. He's very professional and he has a lot of experience that I can learn from, as well.
