Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: All right, very pleased to be joined by 2026 Solheim Cup rookie, Auston Kim. Is it starting to feel real yet?

AUSTON KIM: Not really, no. No, it's cool.

THE MODERATOR: We saw the video of Angela giving you the call. Can you put into words maybe the emotions you felt during it, maybe kind of the process afterwards, getting ready for it.

AUSTON KIM: I didn't really expect a call in the first place. That was really cool actually. There has been a lot of work the past couple of years going into this goal ask one my main goals at the beginning of the year was to make the team.

You know, once that thought crossed my mind two years ago, like even at the beginning of the year two years ago that was a really big goal on my list.

To be able to achieve it after all the hard work and all the obstacles and up and downs, it's a pretty cool feeling and I'm very proud of it.

Q. Final team is now out. Is there anyone on the team you're most looking forward to playing with? Anyone you think you'll gel with?

AUSTON KIM: I'm looking forward to playing with whoever I'm paired up with. I think it's a really good group of girls. We're all very competitive. Very fired up to play.

There are a couple other girls played in college as well, like Allisen Corpuz, Lauren Coughlin, Jenn Kupcho. Like we all know what it's like to play on a team and all the other girls have played on Solheim teams before, so it's really cool to ask them what it's like, get their advice and kind of prepare the best that I can for it in that way.

Q. What's the biggest piece of advice you've gotten?

AUSTON KIM: Take it easy. Not going full send early in the week. We all had dinner last night and it was cool to pick everybody's brains about the week and a lot of what they said is don't go too hard too fast.

So that's definitely good advice.

Q. Bringing it back to this week here at TPC Boston, what are your thoughts on the golf course and how to you his your game suits it?

AUSTON KIM: I always liked this course since the first time I came here. Usually it's pretty firm. I think the first year that I was here my rookie year it was definitely really firm and fast.

I think with all the rain that's been here the past couple days it's definitely gotten soft. But come Thursday, it could kind of get firm or more firm than it is right now. So just trying to prepare the best that I can for that.

But overall, it's good off the tee. It's pretty wide. You know, I feel like every course that we have on or schedule, like it demands a good drive, it demands a good approach and you have to hole a putt.

So just trying to practice everything as balanced as I can this week and a lot of good vibes here. I really like this course so it'll be a good week.

Q. Making your first start since AIG. How does the game feeling coming into this week?

AUSTON KIM: I feel very rested. I'm really glad that I was able to get three weeks off and just kind of do nothing for a week and then prepare the best that I could the two weeks after that. I had a bit of a long stretch in Europe. Played one week in Asia as well.

So that was a lot of travel, a lot of golf all at once. Being able to get a little bit of rest and be with my dog, and my sister came home for a couple days, so having a bit of down time was really good for me.

THE MODERATOR: All right, thank you so much, Auston.

AUSTON KIM: Thank you.
