Q. Joined by Carlota Ciganda after her first round here at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba. 5-under 67 today. Can you just talk about your day today, just how you're managing everything out there with the heat and everything going on?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Started playing very good. It was nice this morning. There wasn't much wind, so I took advantage of that: three birdies on the first five holes. Hit it pretty close on three, four, and two-putted for birdie on five.
And then I bogeyed seven, but then birdied again ten, 11. Played pretty solid, hitting lots of greens. I think we have a good strategy going into this course, and, yeah, it's nice way to start this tournament.
Q. And then Soo Bin was in here and mentioned how important the short game is on this course. Was that part of the strategy heading into today?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think for me it's more ball striking tee-to-green. Obviously if you miss greens you need the short game. If you are playing smart and hitting to your spots, hitting fairways and the greens, I think you don't need the short game as much.
Of course you need to make a few putts to go low.
Yeah, it's a course that challenge all the whole game, and I think it's important to be, yeah, good at everything.
Q. And then had a little bit of a rollercoaster finish there on 18. Hit it into the grandstand. Can you walk us through that final hole and maybe what was racing through your head?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, I had a 5-iron on and I think, yeah, the wind was helping. I was trying to hit a little fade, little cut, and just didn't cut; it draw. So I was aiming a little left; it went more left into the grandstand. Luckily I got a nice drop back of the green. Didn't make birdie but at least made a par.
Q. Last one: Anything you're trying to work on today that you feel like you could have been a little bit better out there today that maybe hit the range or putting green?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I was happy with the result. I think if I can do that every day I'm going to be up there for sure. Yeah, always small things to work on, speed with putting and, yeah, try to hit it well and straight on the range and on the course.
