Quick Quotes

Q. All right, pleased to be joined by Brianna do after her second round at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba.

Brianna, just a little bit about your round today; 3-under, 69. Talk us through everything after coming off a really solid round yesterday.

BRIANNA DO: Yeah, I think I just carried the momentum over until today. I started with two birdies on 10, 11, my first two holes, and that really got things going.

Kind of a lull in the middle on the back nine there, but kept it together and shot 3-under, so good round. Solid.

Q. Was the lull maybe just some ball striking or just putts weren't dropping or a little combination of everything?

BRIANNA DO: A little combination of everything. I wasn't hitting it as close as I was early in the round. I had some good looks still but just a roll short or a roll too hard.

They were close, so there is a lot more to be made out there.

Q. And then played really well here last year; obviously playing well again this year. Is there something about that course that fits your eye or is it a comfortability thing? What do you think contributes to it?

BRIANNA DO: I think playing well last year helps a lot with this year, and I think maybe just the course being a little more demanding off the tee so it keeps you in the whole time, just kind of concentrating a lot over every shot and trying to get best out of my game.

Q. You mentioned yesterday that when you play in the wind you're not thinking about your golf swing; you're just thinking about playing golf. Is that something maybe even when there is not a lot of wind that you're trying to put into your game?

BRIANNA DO: For sure. I mean, I think I learned that at my Open qualifier like I said yesterday, and I think I need to incorporate a little bit more of that into my game, whether it's windy or not. Like this morning, it wasn't super windy but I was still keeping that mindset of let's see the shot I want to hit and feel shot I want to hit instead of I need to be at this position in my swing to hit this shot.

Q. You mentioned the U.S. Open qualifier yesterday as well. How excited are you to be in the field securing that so early in the season and knowing you have a spot in Minnesota?

BRIANNA DO: Yeah, we're playing at Riv.

Q. Sorry, California.

BRIANNA DO: (Mic cut out.) I went to UCLA, so right down the street. Yeah, usually I do one of the later qualifiers because it fits better in the schedule, but the Houston one kind of fit right in and I decided to do it and it's nice to get it done early and start planning for Riv.

Q. Last one: Only two bogeys this week. Both coming on hole nine. Talk about is it just some unfortunate shots or just something about the hole that's maybe a little bit tricky? We've seen a lot of bogeys on nine this week.

BRIANNA DO: Yeah, it's a tricky hole. Second shot is pretty demanding. It's into the wind. It's playing long. The green is pretty skinny. Not very wide, but a little long.

And so it's funny, I bogeyed it the last two days and I think I had trouble on it last year as well, so hopefully these next two rounds I'll figure it out.

Q. Heading into the next two days obviously going to be in contention heading into the weekend. Just talk about the excitement and the nerves that come with that and just what it means to get those feelings.

BRIANNA DO: Yeah, I mean I put myself in that position last year here and so I think I'm going to be a little more prepared for it this year.

I don't think you're ever very comfortable being in contention and leading, and so I'm going accept it and kind of just play within myself and feel the feels and kind of see what happens. Just accept what happens.
