Quick Quotes

Q. All right, pleased to be joined by Maria Jose Marin after the final round of the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba. Strong finish to this week. Just talk about your experience here in Mexico and how everything has been for you this week.

MARIA JOSE MARIN: The experience overall here in Mexico was amazing. I think coming into the week I was pretty grateful that I got to compete in my second home. I was born here in Mexico, so it's always good to be back.

Overall my game was in pretty good shape and ended up being the result that I wanted, and I think even a little better.

Yeah, just really grateful with all the organization and every person that made this week possible. It's been amazing.

Q. And then earned another LEAP point this week. Talk about the past couple months. Feel like you're just racking them up right now.

MARIA JOSE MARIN: Yeah, just the past couple months have been crazy. Ever since Augusta my life has changed and changed for the good. I'm getting a lot of invitations into tournaments and getting recognized more than I have ever been.

And now this week, just accomplishing what I wanted, another LEAP point, just leaves me in a pretty good position going into other tournaments.

Q. Also talking about how your life changed after Augusta, you received an invitation to Chevron. How hard was that decision and thinking about your team going into that?

MARIA JOSE MARIN: Yeah, it was pretty hard to say no to Chevron. You get invited to a major championship I don't think you think twice to accepting. But with further review with my coach, we had conference the week before and we just didn't know how was it going end.

So, yeah, she was like, well, do you what I want, but just look at this and this and this. Yeah, it was hard, but for sure there will be another opportunity in the future to play.

Q. How much does that speak to what your team means to you at Arkansas?

MARIA JOSE MARIN: Arkansas has meant a lot to me. Coach Shauna and Coach Mike have helped me be a better person every day and a better player. I grew lots ever since I'm in Arkansas. I went to college when I was 17 and I'm going graduate pretty early.

But, yeah, just grew a lot. My team has helped me, too. I think we're all a little family and I just love them, and I think they've on the other side of the screen screaming their lungs out.

Q. After your Augusta win, what's the coolest moment or person that's reached out to you?

MARIA JOSE MARIN: I think right after Augusta I was invited to stay that Sunday to the Drive, Chip & Putt, which was a pretty cool experience just to get to share the biggest tournament for the little kids and handing out trophies.

Then they told me I was going to meet Rory and just getting to go meet him and have a little chat with him was amazing. It was a dream come true. And now, well, he's a two-time Masters champion, which is even more amazing.

Q. What's next for you? What are you looking forward to next after an awesome week here?

MARIA JOSE MARIN: Right after this we are leaving Friday to go to regionals. We're going to Kentucky with the team, so hoping to have a great week to have a chance at Nationals. Then Nationals if everything turns out good and right after Nationals U.S. Open.

U.S. Open -- well cross fingers I make it into Palmer Cup. Then Evian and possibly the AIG Women's Open.

Q. Busy life.

MARIA JOSE MARIN: Yeah, a little busy schedule.
