Minnesota Vikings 23, Houston Texans 23
Q. Take us through the touchdown run, where three guys had a hand on you, is that just determination or what was going on there?
DALVIN COOK: It's called a striking zone. You're in the striking zone. It's been costly for us finishing drives. Get in the red zone, score touchdown and like you said, me beat my guy and helping my team win a football game. At this point, we just scratching and clawing and trying to win football games.
Q. How good did it feel to finally win the first game of the season and what kind of anxious moments are there at the end where they are coming back, the Texans?
DALVIN COOK: Definitely feel good to win the football game, the help, the confidence of our team, to get us back in rhythm of knowing we can go out there and win a football game and if we play as a whole, each phase of the game and during the game -- made the game. They got Washington at quarterback and they paid him top dollar and we know what type of quarterback we was facing and we had to go make a play. He was in great coverage and you got to salute to the defense. You got some young guys stepping up, we had Harrison go down, next man, Ro, you got to salute the guys on defense for stepping up and making that play.
Q. This looked like the most complete the offense has been through the season. Did it feel that way?
DALVIN COOK: Yeah, we got guys making plays down felt, We know Adam, what he bring to the table, and Jefferson, why we took him in that pick, and I think he had four catches for like a hundred some yards, that's a guy that can create some plays and different matchups and he's taking a lot of pressure off Adam and this offense can go wherever we want to go, and we just got to keep working and not be complacent, just keep chipping away at it.
Q. Can you talk about the confidence you had at short yardage situation, both you and Alexander really seem to -- there's a lot of power in the short yardage situations today?
DALVIN COOK: Our coach, KP, pride ourselves on that, contact battles we put our team in good situations to go convert and get touchdowns, so we got to put that on our coach kp by just drilling that in our head and not letting us be complacent in short yardage situations and you want more downs for the team to go core.
Q. Best the defensive line has played all year?
DALVIN COOK: Just because we got a win -- last week we rushed for 180-some yards but it's a matter of us going to get W and they been cost left-to-right plays to lose games and we only getting better and theys going to be as good as we push them. We got guys up front that's ready to fight for us and we have to show them that we are ready to fight for them too.
Q. Seems like a lot of the plays, jet sweeps, motions all that, how can you feel -- why do you feel like you were able to take advantage of that type of situation and being able to use your specific skill-set to win on the outside?
DALVIN COOK: They got some big rangy guys on this side, probably the biggest linebacker core I done seen and we knew we getting guys running side ways and using speed to get on the edge and get on some of their corners and our receivers make some good blocks, we can make some yardage. We knew we was getting into it and atmosphere was was going to -- did a great job calling -- inaudible.
Q. The mindset, especially after Harrison --
DALVIN COOK: You went mute.
Q. The mental mindset, it's like you guys are playing -- just all the emotional responses on the sideline, not only Harrison getting out of the game and you taking over, and you had to prove something to yourselves -- how important was it to play mad?
DALVIN COOK: Harry one of our emotional leaders. Don't talk a lot he just show by example. When you have a guy like that, you got to go out there and fight for a guy like that. As soon as you walk off the field -- went back for them and we went into the locker room at halftime and I told them specifically personally you know we bringing us back in the locker room for you and we bringing the W back and you know, it wasn't as perfect at the end but we bought it back and that's all it's about, just winning football games. Today we had confidence in our first win and he was proud in that locker room.
