J.J. Watt

Press Conference

Colts 26, Texans 20

Q. J.J., what was the difference in the defensive performance in the second half?

J.J. WATT: I mean, I thought we gave up too many rush yards, but obviously giving up no points is good. The 4th down stop was good. But just trying to do our job, just trying to affect the quarterback. He was getting the ball out of his hands quick today, just like he does. So just trying to do what we can.

Q. Was it anything strategic you guys changed at halftime?

J.J. WATT: I don't think there was a lot of strategic change, no. No, I don't think so.

Q. You knew it would be a tough match-up with Jonathan Taylor. Just your thoughts on what you guys did for most of the game against him and tried to keep him from getting into the --

J.J. WATT: Yeah, he's a good back. He runs hard. Like you said, I thought we did well for most of the day. Fourth quarter we kind of let the run game get us a little bit, but we held them to zero points in the second half, so that was big for us. Yeah, I thought overall it was a pretty good job all day. Not great but obviously not good enough to win.

Q. In terms of frustration, what are some of the emotions after this one? Looked like you guys had them right on the brink there and then you have the snap, the fumble...

J.J. WATT: Yeah, I mean, it's very tough and very frustrating, obviously, but I mean, our offense has done a great job many times in baling us out on defense, so I mean, I'm not going to sit here and say anything about our offense. I think that they've -- the situations have been flipped many times. I know those guys feel so bad about what happened, obviously, wish they could have it back, and I know how that feels. We all wish we had that win, obviously.

Q. You guys fought that entire game. You're missing key players on both sides of the ball. I know you've seen some crazy endings. Was that one of the oddest ways you've seen for a game to end like that, with that snap to be that close and just one play change everything like that?

J.J. WATT: Yep, yep, it was pretty wild.
