Brandin Cooks

Press Conference

Q. It we get your thoughts on DeSean?

BRANDIN COOKS: I'm not answering those questions. I'm not. I know he wouldn't want me to comment on that so I'm going to leave that alone. I'm going to leave that alone.

Q. What do you think about --

BRANDIN COOKS: Yeah, you know, Coach Culley got a lot of energy. His mindset and his work ethic that he expect out of his players, love to see that. We come out, we have fun but we also get to work so it's great to be able to have him here on the field.

Q. Do you go into training camp expecting --

BRANDIN COOKS: You know, I didn't focus on any of that. I just kind of focused on coming into camp, being ready the best way I can and whatever happens, happens.

Q. What are your impressions of working with him?

BRANDIN COOKS: You're talking about a guy with a great work ethic, a vet, obviously been playing this game for a long time. You know, it's fun out there being able to hear how he see things when we going through plays, so a lot of respect for him.

Q. What's your impression overall?

BRANDIN COOKS: Like I said back in OTA, you talk about a guy on paper says he's a rookie, but the way that he works and catches the ball and how strong he is, he doesn't feel like a rookie. Love going out here going to work with him and I'm going to continue to be there for him the best way I can.

Q. Now you have another new quarterback --

BRANDIN COOKS: I've been kind of doing that all my career, so at the end of the day, I've just got to bring my expertise to the game and at the same time listen to what they like and adjust and be able to get on the same page. So the past has definitely helped me in situations like this.

Q. What do you think about Randall Cobb?

BRANDIN COOKS: My boy RC, I Tweeted, you talk about somebody that instantly becomes family. Him going back, I think it's great to go back to the quarterback he came in the game with. I think he's going to do special things. He's a special guy and a special player.

Q. What do you think you have of the guys on the roster to step up?

BRANDIN COOKS: Guys can come to work and guys can play ball. You look at this roster and guys have been playing ball in this league for a long time so that's definitely not a worry.

Q. You kind of broke the news on Randall Cobb. Were you sitting on that for a while?

BRANDIN COOKS: No, actually to be honest with you, I saw it and then I Tweet it, "Go home and do your thing." So I was not sitting on that for a while, you have my honest truth.

Q. Have you talked to him yet?

BRANDIN COOKS: Yeah, like I said we talk every day, my wife and his wife, they are great friends. He's excited, like I said, he's going back home to where he's had a lot of success and with a great friend of his in Aaron, so you know, he's happy at the end of the day, you get ready and you get traded but this is a business, all people, I definitely know that.

Q. The mix of new guys --

BRANDIN COOKS: The biggest thing he tells us is to tune out the noise. At the end of the day you still have to line up and play football, and at the end of the day we all going to work just like all 31 other teams. So all the other noise, you know, tuning out and we here working and we putting our best foot forward, that's for sure.

Q. How does it feel to be back playing football?

BRANDIN COOKS: Feels great, absolutely, it feels great.

Q. (Thoughts on being a team leader.)

BRANDIN COOKS: I think from the standpoint of leadership, leading the best way I can, like I said we have a lot of new guys, just setting that standard high, and those kind of things I keep to myself and be the best team leader I can be and set a high standard.

Q. What do you think of Anthony Willard?

BRANDIN COOKS: He he can play. He's shifty. Looking at him out there kind of the first day, he's built and he can make a guy miss, he can stick his foot in the ground and you love to see it.

Q. What does he bring to your offense?

BRANDIN COOKS: First of all, his mentality, it's nasty. He's a guy that he may be small but at the end of the day he got such a big chip on his shoulder, he going to come to work every day and he's got a lot of speed there in the backfield.
