Houston Texans 26, Green Bay Packers 7
Q. Quarterbacks, starting with Tyrod, thoughts overall?
COACH CULLEY: I thought Tyrod managed the game well, the one series that he had. It didn't feel like that we finished that drive. Had a third and two down there and we end up having to kick the ball, which we can't get field goals down in that situation. We've got to have touchdowns in that particular situation.
Other than not being able to get us a score there with a touchdown, I thought he did exactly what we wanted him to do during that series.
Davis, again as I've said before, with him, something bad happens, he comes back and he's got that next play mentality. I think he held up very well from the start to the finish when he was in there. He did things that we were trying to get him to do, and when things weren't right, the positive thing about him is that he just comes back and those things don't bother him.
Q. Anthony Miller, he has a shoulder --
COACH CULLEY: He has a slight dislocation right now. They are going to do an MRI with him just to make sure. He's had a practice field injury before and I think he dislocated I think again.
Q. Whenever you're thinking about quarterback development, do you have a rule of thumb, like how fast you want them to be?
COACH CULLEY: No, basically what we want them to do is just execute what's being called. I thought for the most part tonight, all those quarterbacks did that tonight.
Q. After the first NFL head coaching game, how do you think that overall the consistency was from everybody?
COACH CULLEY: Well, I didn't feel like the consistency was there that we're going to need to have to be what we need to be. But that's why we have these games. That's why we do what we do here now. I feel like that we've been this way all training camp. You know, when we have had a lack of consistency at times and we had a lack of consistency tonight at times but we'll go review the film tomorrow and look at it and correct those mistakes and keep trying to get better, which is what we have been trying to do during training camp and I've seen us do that.
Q. What do you think of guys like Johnson, guys who got the ball?
COACH CULLEY: I think overall defensively, I think they played team defense tonight. You know, this defense, what Lovie's defense is built on, creating turnovers and getting turnovers, and we were able it get a few of those tonight. We were close to getting a few more. Basically the thing there is we've got to make sure -- we had a couple third and longs tonight that I know Lovie wasn't happy with, that we weren't happy with and we have to get them off the field in third-and-longs and we didn't do a good job of doing that. Other than that I thought they played really good team defense.
Q. How are those guys doing with close contacts with the positive tests?
COACH CULLEY: When we left to come up here, be they seemed to be doing well. Nothing serious. They had the symptoms. Obviously there's protocol when you get the symptoms, so we'll just take it from there with those guys.
Q. Did you take the way the team handled that?
COACH CULLEY: Well, as we've always said, it's the next man up. Basically when one guy goes out, the next guy comes in and gets in and does his job. Basically we've been that way during training camp moving guys around, and I think the positive thing about us moving guys around all during training camp, when that happens, those kinds of things happen, we have guys that can play all across the board, and I thought those guys did a nice job of doing that tonight.
Q. How about Chris Conley and Scottie?
COACH CULLEY: Well, they made a couple plays, but that's what we expect them to do.
Q. What did you see from Driscoll today?
COACH CULLEY: Again, just like Tyrod and Davis, he handled the team the way we want the team to be handled. Had one bad throw there. Came back, didn't let it affect him and he did his job. He knows -- our quarterbacks manage this football team and they are managing this football team, and doing things right way, then consistency happens and I saw that out of him tonight and at the end of the game during a four-minute situation, understanding that we needed to keep the clock running, ended up having the ball in his hands, he knew in that situation we didn't need to go out of bounds, being the athletic guy that he; he did a great job of continue to go do that and make a play at the end of game for us.
Q. With Jonathan (ph) -- any update on the injury?
COACH CULLEY: He had a little ankle sprain. We're not exactly sure the magnitude of that injury, but we will check that out tomorrow but he did have an ankle.
Q. Did you consider keeping your offense on the field to give them the reps -- and later when it was fourth and goal?
COACH CULLEY: When it was third down and two, we had two plays right there. But we didn't get any yards there and then when we didn't get any yards and we didn't get in a situation where we had a fourth-and-one, you know, we decided to get the kick and we kicked it. But the next time when we got in that situation, any time we were down across the 50 and we got an opportunity to be able to stay on the field in that particular situation, we are going to put it on our up front people and we are going to give them an opportunity to get the first down in those situations.
Q. Are you comfortable with the way Tyrod played with maybe starting week one?
COACH CULLEY: Well, with one series, it's hard to know exactly what would happen if he had played three or four series. But the series that he had, he did exactly what we wanted him to do on that series other than score a touchdown.
