James Camden

Press Conference

Q. Where do you like him?

JAMES CAMPEN: I like him everywhere to be honest with you. He's a fine athlete. He's very smart, very intelligent player and I've enjoyed having him be able to be flexible.

Q. Justin is in a similar situation --

JAMES CAMPEN: And I think, you know, when you are asked to do something and change, you always have questions in your mind, and it's just to make sure that we're covered in all areas on a game day basis and things like that, and it's important to find the best five and the best position and that's what training camp is for.

Q. Inaudible.

JAMES CAMPEN: Oh, yes, I have. The kid has put good weight on and worked his tail off in the weight room and those things, so it's paying off and he's doing well.

Q. Coach talked about competition and how it's good. Can you talk about how that's helped the line?

JAMES CAMPEN: The whole group, well, first off, they have to be smart enough and they are, they do a really good job with concepts and understanding the why of plays.

So you know, if I were to go step over there and do what you do, I would be lost, right, because I don't know how to do an interview. They know how to do interviews with each other so they can rely on their conceptual learning, so we can learn people around, and I think that flexibility has shown that you can put a guy here, put a guy there and they move forward.

Now, not all the combinations have come out in the preseason games because there's only limited reps, but in here, it's not only with the team reps, it's also doing individual. So I might do a double-team with this fine gentleman and then you and I do a double-team on him and you never see that. That's what impressive with these kids, and I think Coach would admit to that. Because this head coach walks around and watches drills, you know what I mean. So when a head coach comes around and watches drills, that stuff goes up, you know what I mean, so it's good.

Q. Guys are a good double-team. The tackle --

JAMES CAMPEN: He's athletically gifted, obviously and the thing about it, when he's at practice and they have got the setback with the stuff there, he is highly competitive. I mean, he freaking goes now. He's explosive, foot speed. He has all the intangibles to be a really, really good player and looking forward to getting him back.

Q. Tytus Howard at left guard, are you concerned on the right side?

JAMES CAMPEN: Not at all and we haven't made a switch there. He's practiced at left, practiced at right. You may have missed a couple of those days. That roster and this lineup is not what it is until Coach Culley says it is and that won't happen until Sunday against Jacksonville. There is still one more game and two practices to prove where the whole thing fits.

The nice thing about this room is they are not competing against each other. They understand that if we collectively go out and do our job, everybody is going to look good and everybody is going to shine. You know, the one thing that they have done a good job, we have asked, make it hard on us; make it hard for recommendations and those things. But ultimately it comes down to Coach Culley and when he announces the starting lineup and that's the starting lineup.

Q. What have you seen from those guys --

JAMES CAMPEN: I mean, they are two experienced football players and one has a bunch of rings and when you add that type of people to the mix, you know, you expect good things to happen and again just excited to get them back whenever that is, and I don't know time frames from that, obviously. But we'll welcome them back then.
