Carolina Panthers - 24, Houston Texans - 9
JONATHAN GREENARD: Not too long before the game. Just kind of talked to us and said just be ready. So I expected, whatever situation come, I was going to be ready for.
Q. How do you feel like you did?
JONATHAN GREENARD: I left some plays out there. I feel like it was a good game to get my feet back under me in a game situation, fast pace, but definitely always some room for improvement, but it was solid. I know I could do better.
Q. How cool was it to make some plays out there?
JONATHAN GREENARD: It was smooth. It's something that's expected of us, so to get excited or think about, this is something that's just so crazy that we seeing, I don't think it's time for that. I just think that I did what I was supposed to do, just followed the technique, followed the system it allows us to do. You follow the system, it's going to make you make a play. I think it was solid we just left some plays out there we would like to get back, but like I said again a solid start.
Q. What was the overall message from Culley in the locker room after that?
JONATHAN GREENARD: Just to stay with it. Like he said, it's no time to hit the panic button. We're still 1-0 in the division. We would love to get these W's, especially for the fans, they work so hard and support us so much, so I feel like we let them down in that aspect. However, it's no time to hit the panic button, so I think we're just going to go back to the drawing board and get back on it and you'll see the progression.
Q. How do you guys feel as a defense when Culley puts faith in you after the punt and gives Carolina a long field, 91 yards?
JONATHAN GREENARD: Whatever he does, we're behind him. Culley he pretty much preaches to us all the time about just whatever the situation is to go put the fire out. So we trust him, he trust us. I like it, to be honest with you. If we're going to put it into our hands, that's where we need to step up and make a play.
Q. Were you your surprised by Sam Darnold's ability to get out of the pocket like he did?
JONATHAN GREENARD: Every quarterback got a little slight bit more of athleticism when they see 300-pounders running at them. But definitely he is, like I say, he's definitely sneaky fast, everybody knows that he has those little quick evasion speed, little moves and stuff like that to get up out of there. But he played well. Took what we gave him. I think we left some stuff out there, but hats off to them, they had a game plan, we had a game plan they just obviously executed better.
Q. What does it do for you guys that you know in these last two games they were winnable, they were there?
JONATHAN GREENARD: Yeah, it's tough. Thankfully we got about 10 days off for this one until our next game, so it's going to be something that we want to get out of. So 24 hours we're going to wash this away, watch the film tomorrow, get better and get back to the drawing board. It's football, man, you win some, you lose some. This one didn't go our way and you got to take it and roll with it.
Q. From last year to this year how do you feel you've progressed with the additional playing time today how do you feel you've progressed?
JONATHAN GREENARD: I just wanted to get more reps, obviously that was a big thing. But the team, just playing with the team and feeding off of them and how we play with each other I think that makes our jobs easier up front to make more plays and we're more comfortable when they know what we're doing. So it all works together. So I think us just having that full off season with OTA's and things like that, it helped us mesh well and understand our tendencies and playing with each other so I think it's a true testament of how we feed off of each other.
