Rams - 38, Texans - 22
Q. How tough has this been on the whole team?
REX BURKHEAD: Yes, losing is never easy. It is tough. And as a team we look for things to improve upon every single day, every game. And just try and find things we can build on.
And I think today at the end of the game you saw a lot of fighting guys. You didn't see a lot of heads down on the sideline. You could still see the look in people's eyes like there was still that fight, that instinct to go out and do whatever we could to impact the game and put ourselves in a position to win and be successful.
Q. Whenever they pulled Matt Stafford in the fourth quarter, where do you all sit, how do you react to that?
REX BURKHEAD: I'll be honest, like, I didn't notice it at first. As a team, just gotta keep going, keep fighting. Can't have that mentality, all right, they're putting backups in, whatever. You've just got to keep pressing forward because I've been in games that have changed like that. And have been down a lot before.
So we had opportunities there at the end, had the on-site kick conversion. Almost had a second one there. So really just gotta keep fighting.
Q. Huge success fairly opportunistic, what does your success today say about opportunity?
REX BURKHEAD: Just going out there, doing whatever I can to help the team. Davis did a great job there at the end, taking control of the offense and putting us in good situations.
TK did a great job with the play calling there. We got a rhythm going. I think it was a 10-play drive there we scored on. We really moved the ball left, right, up the middle, run game established there early on.
If we can do that, if we can maybe find something from those last few drives, hopefully we can do something going forward here.
Q. Do you imagine more playing time now?
REX BURKHEAD: I don't know. That's up to the coaches. I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help the team be successful. Whenever my number's called try to contribute in that way.
Q. The earlier parts of the game before you go hurry up --
REX BURKHEAD: Execution, we're just not executing well. Especially having some of those three-and-outs. And that kills you there early on some penalties. When you can't convert on third down or have some penalties that move you back, it's going to make it tough on you and it makes it tough on the defense, when they're out there the whole game.
So whatever we can do as an offense to really get some things going is what needs to be done.
Q. There were four sacks within the first two drives of the second half. What were you seeing that they were doing to get pressure and how did you all adjust after that or at least approach to try to change that?
REX BURKHEAD: They're very physical front. Of course got Donald up there up front. And they've always done things, twisting in games and just giving you different looks. They move Aaron around on the line quite a bit. Identifying him and then really getting some chips on the outside. We tried to do, and really getting the ball out quick, also.
We started doing that. Started to give Davis time. When he gets some time, he's pretty doggone good.
Q. Expand on that. With Davis, what do you see from him as a young quarterback? You see a lot from a quarterback. What do you see from him as potential?
REX BURKHEAD: I think the thing that impresses me the most about Davis he's so even-keeled. It doesn't matter if we're down a ton there, not converting, not being successful, he's always the same quarterback. He's the same person throughout the game.
For a rookie to have that mindset, even in practice, is exact same way. Super impressive to me being a nine-year veteran. I really haven't seen that, honestly, from a lot of younger guys.
He does that very well and takes command in the huddle there. Especially when we need it late on.
Q. Seeing a lot of Scottie Phillips. Do you think he's at a place where he's ready to get more action?
REX BURKHEAD: You know, that decision's not up to me I love Scottie. He works his tail off. He's a tremendous football player. Very versatile. Does a lot of things. And what I do know is when he gets his number called, he's ready to go. He's focused in every day, doesn't say a lot. Takes it in from myself and the other veterans in the running back room, making sure he can do whatever he can, when his number is called, to go out there and be successful.
