Colts 31, Texans 0
Q. Talking about this with Darius, you guys know when you're heavily favored against a team. Have had some letdowns. Is there a maturity or something that you handle these games in a different manner now?
NYHEIM HINES: I think we're maturing, and I think each week we really are getting better. Obviously we started out 1-4; I think a lot of people thought it was BS, but we are getting better every week. TY said something good to us on Saturday. He said, good teams play to the level of their competition; great teams go out there and handle business. I think that motivated everybody.
He gave us a really passionate speech on Saturday so I think we kind of drew off that and came out here and tried to handle business again.
Q. Was that a Saturday night meeting?
NYHEIM HINES: Saturday at the walk-through.
Q. When you saw the schedule in May, and you week 13 bye, what was your reaction?
NYHEIM HINES: Damn. That's all I been -- like I even --
Q. (No microphone.)
NYHEIM HINES: I was telling some of my family, it was like week six, I'm like, Dang, we still got like eight more games before we have a bye. They say the bye always comes when you need it. We are generally healthy and this week 13 bye is actually probably really good for us.
Q. (No microphone.)
NYHEIM HINES: I mean, it's great, great momentum. Like I said, we're getting better every week. This is great momentum. It's football. It's December football, too. So December football is when you have to show up. We know we have the Patriots, primetime, and we have another primetime game after that I believe.
So we have this stretch, and I think we're hitting on all cylinders at the time when it matters most.
Q. You said you're getting better. I think I know this answer, but when tells you that? How you are the examples?
NYHEIM HINES: Jonathan Taylor. Offensively, Jonathan Taylor. He's as been doing really well. Carson, seems like each week he's finding the guys. I feel like at the beginning of the year with Carson, new quarterback, we were all trying to gel together.
Probably gelled together probably like five or six weeks ago, and Jonathan Taylor has been great. Defense is doing great punching the balls out, and special teams, we have one of the best special teams units in the league, and each week I think we go out there and prove it.
Q. (No microphone.)
NYHEIM HINES: Oh, I do love it. I get to be in the game and JT is in the game. I think defenses have problems with it. They have to game plan for myself and JT. I think that's no easy task. I think we're both great runners and in space we're very dangerous.
Q. It's not Brady and Manning anymore, but Patriots, still a little bit there. Did you watch that rivalry growing up? Do you have memories from watching those games?
NYHEIM HINES: Absolutely. Yeah, I actually grew up a Patriots fan so it's hilarious. My dad is from Connecticut and my mom is from New York, so...
Q. So you're on the other side.
NYHEIM HINES: Yeah, so I remember like seeing Peyton a couple times and I was like, dang. But all that is over and I remember just watching all these rivalries and being a fan, being able to remember a great time in football that a lot of people may have taken for granted.
Q. Does it feel like that's a playoff game?
NYHEIM HINES: Oh, yeah. I feel like every game for us is a playoff game, but just to rattle off a few, I know like I think our next two we're playing against playoff teams. Patriots are a great team, playing well, defense is playing well, and they're playing great complementary football. Arizona, they're a great team. Maybe one of the best teams in football. If we want to go to the playoffs and go where we want to go, we have to beat teams like that.
Q. (No microphone.)
NYHEIM HINES: You know, you all know who our coach is. You know, 1-0, and he's done a great job embracing that whole mentality and I think we really bought into that.
We never look too far ahead. We know what the schedule is, but we don't look ahead. We see the Patriots and the Cardinals, the highlights and stuff, but we were focused on Houston this week.
Q. Last week the Buccaneers sold out. (No microphone.)
NYHEIM HINES: It was great. Just great to see JT go back over 100 yards. I don't know if he had 100 last week, but I think nine of last ten games he had 100. I like that, so hope we keep that going.
Really last week with us throwing, I think that was a great call by Frank. Carson was doing well. We took what defense gives us, and I think we'll continue to do that. The run presents itself, JT is going to be in for a run the damn ball type of day.
