Chargers 29, Texans 41
Q. Rashawn, obviously could have been a big day. How tough is this loss?
RASHAWN SLATER: It sucks, you know, to be frank, but we just got to keep pushing forward. Talk about next week.
Q. I know teams don't like to make excuses, but how difficult was it with both teams missing guys?
RASHAWN SLATER: Yeah, I mean, there is no excuses. Like everyone is going through the same thing right now.
Just comes down to execution and we didn't do that well enough today.
Q. Does it make it more frustrating that a game like this comes after going toe to toe with one of the best teams in the league?
RASHAWN SLATER: Yeah, I mean, you know, just we had that mindset like, man, we got to make things right, especially typical in the season. Every win is so important, so it just sucks. No other way to put it. We wanted to come out and dominate and we didn't do that.
Q. Offensively seemed like you moved the ball pretty well. Did you feel like the turnovers kind of...
RASHAWN SLATER: Yeah, just weren't finishing drives. That's what killed us I feel like.
Q. What's it like in the locker room right now? Pretty quiet?
RASHAWN SLATER: I mean, yeah, we got some pissed off guys. I mean, yeah, we just got to lock in on next week. That's all we can do. Next week is coming and we got to be ready because now it's more important that we finish the last two strong.
Q. What did you take away from Brandon Staley's message after the game?
RASHAWN SLATER: Yeah, I say the biggest thing is every week in the NFL there is no such thing as an easy game. Someone is down with injuries, COVID, no matter what, like records don't matter in the NFL. Everyone is playing really good football at the end of the day, so you can't take anyone lightly.
You know, it's not any different from us losing to the Chiefs last week. I feel like you got to be able to execute no matter who you're going against, yeah.
Q. Do you feel like that might have been a lesson that a lot of young guys needed to learn?
RASHAWN SLATER: Yeah. I mean, I don't think it was a lack of effort, but still, execution is just so important.
