TITANS 28, TEXANS 25
Q. Kamu, as the season is over, what are your reflections on this and what you see in 2021 and your expectations for the offseason?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: I think we had a very eventful year for sure. Guys came in. We did some good things. We did some bad things. A lot of things to learn from for sure, and just personally just kind of going to take this offseason, iron everything out, and see what the next step is.
Q. Culley said tomorrow is when players will have exit interviews. What do you expect to say in that? And you are on a one-year deal. How do you expect your future will be with this team?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: Who knows? I've said before I want to be here. We get the feeling that the feeling is mutual, but we've got to figure something out. You know how all that works out in free agency and stuff, but you never know. You really never know what the future holds, so it will be interesting next couple of months.
Q. When you look at the way that Davis performed, what kind of impression did he make on you, the way he played today, the way he played especially at the second half of the season?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: You can tell he is just getting way more comfortable. I was very happy and impressed with how he played today, him slinging it around, throwing touchdowns. And there's been a lot of glimpses where he just flashes like an elite-level quarterback. I'm excited for his future. He is a rookie. I remember me being a rookie. Everything wasn't all easy. I can't imagine the quarterback just coming in and having to lead a team, so I think this offseason is going to be -- I'm just excited for him.
Q. Kamu, if you are here, how hopeful are you that David Culley is back here as well?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: I hope he is. I don't make the decision. I don't even know if I'm going to be here. I think it would be great. I don't know why he -- I think it would be great.
Q. I know there's going to be a lot of changes in this offseason. You don't know your future, but where specifically did you feel you improved the best this year, and what do you take away from that defense under Lovie Smith this past year?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: I just think having the opportunity they gave me and letting me just be me. I think we did a lot of good things in this defense, and I think we all can see that we can be a really great defense if we get the right pieces and we all just buy in. I don't know. I would love to stay in this defense because I love it. I love it the way they just allow me to do my thing.
Q. Kamu, you said you would like to be back here. What are the main reasons why you would like to return to the Texans?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: The biggest thing for sure is the defense. I haven't played in a defense like this that's -- for, being what are we, 4-13, we have, what is it, 25-plus take-aways. We have a defense that can be, I think, a shutdown defense, and we have the coaches to do it. I would love to be a part of it.
Q. It seems like it was the ideal fit for you. Did it surprise you how ideally you fit into the Lovie system?
KAMU GRUGIER-HILL: I think I just kind of was just caught up in it. I didn't really get a time to really sit back and reflect. Once training camp hit, I was learning defense, and we were rolling. Looking back now, I love it.
