Q. Offer some perspective of what happened today, Mason.
MASON COLE: Yeah, we just we've had these spurts where we look good and we're not doing it soon enough in games. We're not functioning efficiently. I think we're waiting on splash plays and we don't get them, we're not converting first downs it's just inefficient, bad ball.
Q. When Kenny goes down and Mitch has to step up, do you have any conversations with Mitch before that first play?
MASON COLE: No, no, I mean you usually just take a couple of snaps, hear his cadence because they're always just a little bit different, but, um, no, we all got we know what much can do and we got trust in much when ever he's got to go in.
Q. Did you have a chance to talk to Kenny and get an update from him at all since he went out?
MASON COLE: Yeah, I talked to him, um, but he's a little banged up and we'll see what happens from here.
Q. Mason, when you guys come out in the second half the way you did with these big runs, instead of looking at the stuff that doesn't work, what is it that did work. What can you guys be doing to get to that point?
MASON COLE: Yeah, you know, I think there's time where is we're running the ball really well and then, um, one bad or negative run will scare us away from it and we're behind the chains and we're trying to catch up and you get in bad situations, so, um, we just have to be more consistent across the board. We're just not good enough consistently. It's killing us right now.
Q. Specifically protection wise, three sacks and the Texans only has four coming in, were they doing anything that caught you off guard? Kind of take me through.
MASON COLE: No, no. I mean, it was one was a fourth and one. Trying to make a play. One was a naked boot that they just got us on. No, not terrorizing. Didn't do anything surprising. We were just in bad situations and teams can get after the passer.
Q. When you guys are lacking production, what are the conversations like on the sidelines?
MASON COLE: Yeah, I mean, we're always trying to figure it out, right? There hasn't been panic. We know how good we can be but you just, for whatever reason, we're starting slow, we're not functioning efficiently, we're not doing it consistently well enough, and then we have spurts in the second half where we're running the ball really well, we're moving the ball down the field and we start in the red zone. Again, just not good enough. The conversations are what they are on the sideline, but they didn't help that match.
Q. ... as a rookie, what did you see from him and how he responded?
MASON COLE: Yeah, I mean, he didn't blink once. He was ready for the situation, handled it well from just kind of first reaction, but that's why you try to tackle from the first round, you expect them to be ready.
