Cardinals 16, Texans 21
JONATHAN GANNON: On the injury front, Leckey had a hand; Kyzir had a arm or biceps. I think Hamm on the last pick had a groin. Kevin may have came out there. I think that is it.
I thought, you know, kind of has some explosives there in the first half. Spotted them I think the score was 21 to 10 there at the half, and then got back into the game. Just too much to overcome.
Gave ourselves a chance to win. Didn't get it done. Credit to the Texans. Made a lot of good plays. They're a good football team. You know, we'll get back to work tomorrow.
Q. ...did you believe you could come back from that type of game easier than in the past?
JONATHAN GANNON: The belief has been there that we can come back and win the game. We're going to keep fighting, and he obviously made some big time plays to get us back in that game.
The team never wavers, that if we can keep swinging queer going to keep swinging.
Q. (Regarding Kyler.)
JONATHAN GANNON: No, I don't think that. I think just reps with his teammates, you know what I mean, in a new system. It's going to continue to improve. Like I said, he made some big time plays today, and just like everybody, I'm sure he wants a couple back.
I thought he played well.
Q. How did you get your defense to a point where I think there was 300 plus in the first half and really, really good...
JONATHAN GANNON: Yeah, we talked about it. A little bit of -- Nick called it a little bit different and then we executed a little bit better. Again, the three takeaways, that's why we got back in the game. I know J.T. had ones.
Barnes had one. Hamm had one. So that's taking points of the board for them. I don't think they scored in the second half. Gave us a chance to get back in the game and win the game.
Spotting them the 21 points there in the first half, I didn't think the execution and the calling of it, you will after us together got to do a better job and not give up 21 points in half.
Q. What was your process behind fourth downs?
JONATHAN GANNON: Yeah, trying to win the game.
Q. What did you see with...
JONATHAN GANNON: Spotted, was a little bit short. McBride was bang-bang. When you make those calls you got to live with them.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
JONATHAN GANNON: I got to watch the tape on that. I thought he played pretty good in a road environment. I know he had bang up one time out there, but as coaches that falls on coaching.
Then keep working and get in rhythm with our guys, and I know he had the one explosive to open the game. It was unbelievable for him.
But just ultimately didn't make enough. That's not him. That's everybody.
Q. (Regarding formation.)
JONATHAN GANNON: Yeah, I did.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
JONATHAN GANNON: They call what they call.
Q. Couple hard shots in the red zone. Seeing that, maybe...
JONATHAN GANNON: Yeah, the fourth down we went for there, that touchdown was an unbelievable play. Again, that's his skillset and he can do special things.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
JONATHAN GANNON: No, he plays within the offense.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
JONATHAN GANNON: I got watch the tape. You know, seem a little under duress at times, but that's all 11. It's not just the O-line.
Just work on finishing to improve in pass pro and the run game and everything like that.
Thought we ran it pretty well. Couple got knocked back there. That's a credit to them that's a hard front to block.
Q. Would you say this is close...
JONATHAN GANNON: Yeah, I just told them, that's a playoff football team, and we go nose and nose but they made more plays than us. That comes in the details. Coaches got to be on the details during the week, and that goes into play waking and that wins games. That's why they made a couple more plays than we did and that's why we lost.
