Bills - 31, Dolphins - 28
Q. Jordan, first of all, amazing game. First thing, just your reaction to Josh's performance. 417 yards, four touchdowns. We talked this week about -- yeah. Those are the numbers, man. You had the look on your face, man. 417, four TDs. What do you see to that?
JORDAN POYER: I mean, I didn't know that. I knew he threw for four TDs, but 417. The dude is growing. He's a baller. Can't say enough good things about Josh, man. He's the leader of our team and we're riding behind him.
Q. We talked all this week about how this game would be different with you guys being down a couple of players defensively. For him to step up in the way that he did, late in that game when you got down, what does it say about where he is as a quarterback. We talk about his growth all the time but this seems like a whole different level.
JORDAN POYER: Yeah. That's just the mindset -- it's not just Josh, man. It's the whole mindset of our team. It's the road warrior mentality. And our starting quarterback has that and it trickles down all the way to the last man on the roster. Like I say, Josh is our leader and he's a guy that all of us are following. When he plays hot like that it's up to us on the defensive side of the ball to create some stops. We didn't get enough takeaways today, something that we preach all the time getting the ball out. But we made some stops when we had to, and Josh took over and took over the game.
Q. How did you think you reacted to having Tremaine and Matt not in the game? You did the big goal line stand. Can you at least be a little satisfied with the way the defense performed when they had to?
JORDAN POYER: Yeah. I mean obviously there's ebbs and flows in a football game. There's a couple series there where we were getting -- they ran the ball down our throats for a couple of series. But like I said earlier, man, it's just the mindset of our team understanding that there's going to be ups and downs in a football game. When the game is on the line, when it meant the most we were able to get the stop. That's why it's a four-quarter game, offense, defense and special teams. We came out there and ended the game. It was a full team effort win, man. There's not one side of the ball that did more than the other side of the ball. That was a full team effort win and we're just glad to be 2 and 0.
Q. Could you get a sense from being on the sideline or watching Josh that this was going to be a different game for him?
JORDAN POYER: I mean I think every week you come out there wondering like what crazy stuff is Josh going to do this week, whether he's going to run the ball for 100 yards or throw a 60-yard bomb or put balls on the money for Diggs to make plays on. And he made some great throws today. It was a fun day overall. I kind of went on a rant and totally forgot the question that you asked me. But, no, Josh is like I said earlier, he's the leader of our team and we're riding behind him.
Q. I guess going off of that, when you're watching him, you've seen him with the legs and make some crazy throws. This was sitting back there and picking apart. Do you get kind of sucked in while you're on the sidelines watching this stuff?
JORDAN POYER: I mean it's nice to see obviously our offense driving the football on the field and giving us a break on the sideline. Kudos to them, man. They had a great game plan coming in. The offensive line did what they had to do, blocking give Josh some time and the receivers found ways to get open. It was cool. Every week our offense is getting better and better. Sky's the limit for this football team. We're just going to keep working and keep going.
Q. How good does it feel just to be 2 and 0 to start the season?
JORDAN POYER: It feels good. Just understand we got a lot of work to do, man. It is a satisfying win to come on the road and get a victory, but at the same time we left a lot of plays out there. I'm talking defensively wise. Gave up some plays that we shouldn't have gave up, gave up some runs that we shouldn't have gave up. So that is a little frustrating but at the same time coming home with a win, it's always good to be able to learn from a win than learn from a loss.
Q. How big of a statement was this for the defense, going in knowing you didn't have Tremaine and Matt. They play such a big role for you guys. To be able to come out without those two guys victorious?
JORDAN POYER: Yeah. It's always next man up. Obviously those guys are huge parts of our defense, huge parts of our team. But I thought T. Dod came out there and played a hell of a game. I thought A.J. came out there and played a hell of a game, guys just stepping up in positions that they're not normally in and making plays. T. Dod came out there and there wasn't any hesitation and he had confidence in the huddle calls, and so that's what you want to see and guys coming in and playing in the defense, you know. Confidence and just doing your job, and so I'm really happy for those guys, T. Dod and A.J. getting their first start in Buffalo, especially T. Dod. We have the same agent. So I knew a little bit before about his situation. So it's great to see him start and play well. Extremely happy for him.
Q. Can you walk us through the play where you had the sack offense in the fourth quarter? What were your keys there and how did that play come together for you?
JORDAN POYER: Yeah. I can't remember if it was a blitz or if I just read the keys, but I had -- I read my keys and I saw the end. I think it was Jerry. He took two guys off the field and so I really kind of wrapped around. I don't know if they showed the replay, but I wrapped around it, and it almost played out perfect. It was almost an outside game with me and Jerry and I was just able to make the play.
Q. Did they give you that sack or was that somebody else's? They said on TV it was you.
JORDAN POYER: I didn't know if they gave me a half a sack or, you know. (Laughs).
Q. Either way, it was a good play. Congratulations, man. Thank you.
JORDAN POYER: Thank you.
