Micah Hyde

Tre'Davious White

Postgame Presser

Bills - 31, Dolphins - 28

Q. Congratulations, Micah. I have a question for you. Can you talk about the goal line stand in the third, specifically the third down play where you defend Gesicki, it looked like you and A.J. were right on the same page there?

MICAH HYDE: Yeah. That was a huge series in the game. Seems like we couldn't get off the field in the second half. They drove all the way down. That's just a sign of a good defense, standing strong and making them just try to score and they couldn't get in. That third down play, I wish I could have timed my jump a little bit better and came down with it, but it was just a big play and a good stop by us.

Q. Micah, kind of going off the quote you said I knew I was going to like last week that you were going to find the sidelines sometimes frustrated with how the offense played. How far have you come as a team from those days when the defense is starting late in the second half and offense can respond with two great scoring drives?

MICAH HYDE: I promise I'll answer this question but you gotta promise me that you won't ask me about this again.

Q. Okay. I got you.

MICAH HYDE: Thank you. You know, the offense picked us up. We couldn't get off the field. Like I said, they were nickel and diming us, and then the offense, man, they just stepped is up. That's where our offense is now. They're able to make plays and move the football, whether it's Josh or receivers or running backs, offensive line, they're doing a hell of a job. I love what they're doing on offense, and they have our backs, man. They really do. We don't like giving up 28 points. That's not winning football on our side of the ball. But like I said, the offense picked us up, and thankful for that.

Q. What do you think the Dolphins' adjustment was at halftime? It seemed like things were relatively under control during that first half, and it seemed like they might have figured something out late in the third and the fourth quarter?

MICAH HYDE: Yeah. They were beating us to our leverage. They were doing a good job running the football and forcing us to tackle and we got a guy like Fitzpatrick behind center. He's throwing the ball all over the place. I talk to him earlier in the week. He's a smart quarterback. He knows where we're at. He's able to dial up, pass/run. Gets the ball out quick. They have talented receivers. So that's a good football team. That's a very good football team. I think their record doesn't indicate how good they are. But they're a force to reckon with, and talking to Fitzpatrick after the game I told him, man, every time we play you, he just knows how to move the football against us.

Q. Kind of building off what you're saying about Fitz there, how much are you aware on the sideline in the second half that that's a guy that just does not stop, he's not going to go away in the second half. He's not going to run and hide. He's going to keep firing and coming at you?

MICAH HYDE: Yeah. We just know from our history, playing him and stuff. That's the kind of mentality he has. He's just going to go out there and keep playing, keep fighting. I feel like this game was the same game we played back in Buffalo. We got up a little bit and he just drove back down the game. It came down to the on-side kick again. So that's just Fitzpatrick, and we knew that coming into the game that it would be a hard-fought game. Got a little bit delayed right at the halftime. Just kept talking in the locker room, saying we gotta keep fighting.

Q. What do you make of what Josh did? I know you guys got a ton of confidence in him, but to see him throw for 400 and four TDs?

MICAH HYDE: Jeez. I didn't even know he did that. But that's the confidence that we have in him. You know, I think that as a quarterback in this league and you get confidence, it's a dangerous thing. It's a dangerous thing for opponents. We played against one today. Fitzpatrick has a lot of confidence. Josh today had a lot of confidence. Seeing a lot of defenses like that, it's remarkable. We stay Josh all the time, talk about how good he is. He knows it. Performance like today definitely solidifies that.

Q. On offense, is that almost like déjà vu. They seem to kick the ball to you each year here down in Miami?

MICAH HYDE: I don't know what it is. I don't know why they keep kicking it to me. Maybe they saw the ball slip out of my hands in the third quarter on the end zone. Yeah. You know, what ball was up there for a while. Thought it was never going to come down, but we were able to dial it up and get down.

Q. Is that something that you guys seen on film how they maneuver on their on-side kicks so that you're in the proper position of chances of the ball coming to that side of the field? You seem to be on the side of the field where the ball is coming.

MICAH HYDE: Well, a lot of kickers are right-footed. They do that sky-high kick. We know that kicker from last year. Last year did the same on-side kick. Great call by whoever called the timeout right before the kicker kicked the first one, because now we knew that they were trying to go middle. They weren't going to do that again, so obviously the next kick was try to do what the kicker is best at and that was coming to me. So great job by the guys in front of me blocking. I have trust in them blocking in front of me and I was able to go up and get the football.

Q. You seem to be on point even coming to not only wide receivers, but the tight ends. Was it something that you were seeing from Fitzpatrick? You seemed to have your timing down pat to get in there and break up the passes today?

TRE'DAVIOUS WHITE: It's all credit to my coaching, man. Just the things we do in practice. He's been working with me all week, all camp on my press, on my footwork. And today we was in a lot of man coverage, and I was able to execute and step down. The balls came and I was able to knock a few out.

Q. Did he show you anything different or were they really like they are on film?

TRE'DAVIOUS WHITE: Yeah. I just trusted my film study, man. In the NFL guys are going to throw the first 15 plays but when those first 15 are over they're going to go back to the offense they have been running in all the games they already played. So I pretty much had a bead on the stuff that they were doing, and I just trusted the film study that I've been doing all week, and the plays actually came.

Q. How big was that goal line stand that you guys had?

MICAH HYDE: With the performance that we had today, not being -- them driving down and being on the two, maybe the one yard line. Stuff a few times and created a little momentum back on our side. That was huge. The way our offense is playing lights out, we tried to get the ball back in their hands and we were able to get a fourth down stop. But it was just a huge play of the game and just a great effort.

Q. Really for either of you obviously being without Matt and Tremaine, how did Tyrell Dodson, how well did he play in this game? He came up with a couple really big plays today. What did you see from him?

TRE'DAVIOUS WHITE: Tyrell we all have confidence in him and knew he could play all along. It was just a matter of him having the opportunity. With Tremaine out he stepped in and did a great job of leading us on the field and making huge plays. He's a guy that (inaudible) going to manage the football each and every play, and he's going to hustle, no matter what it is, special teams or defense. So we're fortunate to have him and he played a big-time role for us today.
