De'Von Achane

Postgame Presser

Dolphins 27, Jets 21

Q. What can you say about your effort on that touchdown run?

DE'VON ACHANE: I feel like it was good. Like I said, when we down in the red zone I always try to make sure that we score points, preferably touchdowns. When we're in the red zone like that, making a few guys miss I feel like that's my job as a running back, so when we down there I just like to put points on the board is my main objective.

Q. What was your reaction when you saw Tyreek's gruesome injury?

DE'VON ACHANE: Like I said, I'm praying for him, man. For him to put his body on the line, I think that was third down and he got the first, so when I went over there I seen him, he was still happy. Like Tua said, he was smiling, just still making jokes.

I'm like bro, like you just got hurt. Like you know what I'm saying? Him just showing that spirit just let us know, okay, we still got a game to win. We still got to lock in. He just put his body on the line to get this first down so might as well continue.

Q. You got 18 carries tonight. Does that help you get in a rhythm sometimes if you get more touches?

DE'VON ACHANE: Yeah, most definitely. When you getting that many carries, man, I feel like as a running back, I feel like you bound to pop a couple runs, get a couple good runs in. I feel like we did that tonight.

So I have no problem having the carries I had. Just trying when I do have the ball, make plays.

Q. Getting the win, your schedule softens up a little in the coming weeks based on your opponents' records. Do you feel like you can start stringing some of these together?

DE'VON ACHANE: Most definitely. Like you said, we just going to -- we won now, but we going into each week trying to be 1-0. I feel like if you go 1-0 each week, 14-3 don't look as bad at the beginning of the season as 0-3.

So we just come out every week and try to be 1-0, try to put the past in the past and we come out here. I feel like we got a game today but still can fix certain stuff. Like we can go out there and play a way much better game.

Q. What do you think can keep this offense going without Tyreek going forward?

DE'VON ACHANE: Just next man up. Like I said, we just got to make sure we stay ahead of the sticks. I feel like anybody on this team when they got ball in their hands they can make plays. We just got to practice and just got to face the fact that we might not have him.

Q. Been practicing with Darren Waller. A lot of people were surprised at his productivity in his debut. Were you surprised?

DE'VON ACHANE: Not really. Like we say every week at practice, you know, we always joke with him, like who is he? Just because we haven't seen him play in a while. So him coming out here is showing us he still got it, it's great look for us.
