Dolphins - 20, Buccaneers - 17
Q. Theo, what happened on the touchdown play?
THEO WEASE JR.: I caught the ball, and I ran to the end zone.
Q. What was the key to getting open?
THEO WEASE JR.: Quinn's eyes. He's the reason that the corner, you know, he bit on the route inside of me. I got to give hats off to Quinn. He gave me a good ball, and I had to put my head down and keep running and go score.
Q. Did you feel like that safety knew where you were until you after you had already caught the ball? I don't know what kind of angle he took?
THEO WEASE JR.: Honestly, I got to go watch it. I don't know where the safety was at. All I saw was the end zone, and that's all I was looking at at the time.
Q. Was it all blue after that? You left the ball behind. It was your first regular season touchdown.
THEO WEASE JR.: I got the ball.
Q. Someone got it for you?
THEO WEASE JR.: I got it for sure. No, it was a blessing. Grateful for the opportunity, dream come true. Every kid wants to score in the NFL.
Q. What impressed you most about Quinn today?
THEO WEASE JR.: Just how calm and poised he is. I was telling somebody the other day he's like the swaggiest on the field, just how he carries himself. Just brings more confidence to the offense.
Q. How much does that preseason chemistry -- how much has that come through when playing regular season games with him?
THEO WEASE JR.: It definitely helped a lot. We definitely get a lot of work in after practice and in the meeting rooms too. I think that getting that connection kind of started in the preseason, I think it helped a little bit.
Q. When you say Quinn was calm, how does that show itself? Any moment of anything he said or just in general?
THEO WEASE JR.: He just doesn't break character. Like if you knew Quinn, he's just a cool guy. He's the same person every day, and he's the same person in the huddle as he is in the locker room or at practice. He stays the same.
Q. As the play developed, could you believe you were that wide open?
THEO WEASE JR.: No. I was telling everybody when I caught it, it felt fake because I didn't see any white jerseys around me.
Q. Did you get a good look at Quinn Ewers' first down run where he scrambled?
THEO WEASE JR.: And celebration.
Q. What did you think of all that?
THEO WEASE JR.: That's why I'm telling you he's got the most swagger on the team. That's what I'm saying.
Q. How special is it that your first touchdown came from Quinn?
THEO WEASE JR.: It's real special because my first touchdown in a Dolphins jersey came from him, and my first one in an actual NFL game came from him.
We talked about it. We kind of knew it was going to come this game, but honestly it was really special.
Q. What do you think of so many rookies in this game? Quinn threw the touchdown to you. That's your first touchdown catch. Zeek Biggers with the blocked field goal. Jason Marshall with his first interception. Even Andrew Meyer, second year player but played in his first game. Just so many firsts in this game.
THEO WEASE JR.: We work hard, and it shows. We're all prepared at a high level to stay ready for any moment, and we seized that opportunity.
Q. Personally what has this year been like to you? Can you compare it to any other season in your life in terms of just having to learn off to the side?
THEO WEASE JR.: I definitely can't compare it to anything I've been through because this is a long season. College would have been done already. The main thing for me is zoning in on my details. In my details are better than their details, I'm going to win every time.
So you're just taking a step away from the physical and just learning more about the mental and getting my IQ up.
Q. You and Quinn talked about the first touchdown, your first, what do you mean by that? What were you guys saying this week?
THEO WEASE JR.: I mean, I just told him -- we're locker mates, so we talk every day all the time. I kind of nudged him and was telling him which plays I thought I was going to score on. That wasn't one of the plays. That was just crazy, but yeah.
