Seahawks 17, Broncos 16
RUSSELL WILSON: A lot of great things. Really the reality was just we didn't get the ball in the end zone on those red zone plays, and turned it over a couple times down there.
But the thing was I think how we kept answering, kept answering, I thought we were really good on third down. Thought we were just kept getting first downs on third downs, and also we made some key plays. Thought Jerry Jeudy looked amazing tonight. Excited for him. Courtland, too, made some great plays as well.
So I think the name of this game is any time you play, it's about the turnover battle. You got to win that, and then also, too, I thought that all three parts got to play great together at the same time.
When we can do that, especially two out of three, which I think we did at some points of the game, got to do it throughout the whole game.
The great things I told these guys is we got to be unwavering. You know, unwavering, unwavering. I thought that obviously the environment is always special here. I've been here for ten years. It was special tonight. I thought the energy, everybody was focused and locked in. I couldn't have been more locked in. Just felt like I was on every little detail. Just didn't go our way.
Guess what? There are 16 more games to go and there is a lot more football to play. I'm looking forward to what we can do, especially when we get it all together at the same time.
Q. How surprised were you that he took the ball out of your hands on fourth and five? (Indiscernible.)
RUSSELL WILSON: Well, we got the best field goal kicker maybe in the game. We knew that we --
Q. (Indiscernible.)
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, yeah. We said, where can you make it from tonight, and he said 46 left hash. I think we were on the 46. That was before the drive. We got it there; unfortunately didn't go in.
I think he has the leg for it for sure. Just went a little left I believe and just -- I believe in Coach Hackett. I believe in what we're doing. Believe in everything, and any time you can try to find a way to make a play on fourth and five, that's great too. Also, I don't think it was the wrong decision.
I think he can make it. Obviously hindsight he didn't make it, but we were in that situation again I wouldn't doubt whatever he decided.
Q. Russ, you touched on the atmosphere. Can you expound on coming back, the emotions, the crowd, everything?
RUSSELL WILSON: You know, I think that for me, Seattle has been amazing for me. You know, like I said, anybody who thinks otherwise, they don't know my heart and how much this city has meant to me.
From all the kids I've met to building our school here to all the games we won here, all the special times. Forever grateful for it.
So I got to see a lot of teammates afterwards. DK, Tyler. DK, he's one of my best friends in the world. We talk every week, couple times a week. Penny Hart, we talk every other day. Tyler Lockett, you know, just seeing him get engaged.
These things matter. The game matters obviously when it matters. But your friends matter, too. So seeing like Dissly, guys like Quandre Diggs, I was telling him how much he's inspired me just as a father. He's an amazing dad. I think his heart -- he's got an amazing heart too as well.
There are so many guys. I pray for Jamal, too. He's one of the best in the game. I'm not sure what his status is or whatever. I just know he got off the field.
But he's a guy I've talked to quite a bit too as well. One of the best in the game, so just praying for him.
So I think that more than anything else, for me personally, I didn't waver, you know. (Smiling.)
They may cheer for you, they may boo you, they may -- they'll love you one day and hate you the next. That's sports.
At the end of the day, I'm going to keep competing, keep battling. I know who I am first of all. I think for me, I'm just grateful God has given me the chance to play this game to sit here in front of you guys and say -- you know, it's all for His glory and His glory alone. It's not for anybody else. I play for an audience of one and it's just for Him.
I'm just grateful I get to be with these guys in this locker room, too. I've been around some amazing teammates in the past and got some amazing teammates currently. I'm going to remember every single moment of that.
Tonight was special. You know, it's the other side than I am used to, but it was still a special environment, a place that I've always loved.
Q. The number of penalties that you had tonight, what would you attribute that to?
RUSSELL WILSON: I thought we were just battling out there. It was a great game going back and forth. I think that we can eliminate those. It's football. I think we got a tough-nosed defense that has attitude and is tough as can get.
You're going to get some penalties every once in a while when that happens. That's just the name of the game. I think that also, too, I think we can be a little bit more efficient every once in a while.
I thought how efficient we were moving the ball up and down the field, you know, guys were excited about where we can go and what we can do.
Today we didn't get it done tonight, but there are so much that we can do and so special to have such great running backs. Seeing the tight ends, they all played well. I thought our tight ends -- Beck played really great. I thought Courtland and Jerry were spectacular.
And just to see K.J. Hamler out there again, exciting for him, so that was great.
Q. You said it's just sports, the cheers or boos are kind of how it is. Did the boos that came down bother you at all? Did it get to you? Were you expecting something else?
RUSSELL WILSON: No, it didn't bother me. This is a hostile environment. It always has been. I didn't expect them to give a round of applause every once in a while, you know.
So I think that -- like I would say, I gave everything I had every day here. Every day. Anybody that says anything else, they're completely wrong. I gave everything I had every day.
So I know that for a fact. Like I said, I have some amazing teammates on the other side of that field that I love to death and gave everything I had to them; they gave everything they had to me.
God brought me somewhere else. I'm here in Denver. I'm excited where we're going. So I'm just grateful. I give the glory to God because he's given me the gift of playing this game.
