Quandre Diggs

Weekday Press Conference

Q. (Indiscernible).

QUANDRE DIGGS: I'm blessed. I have two kids, boy and girl. Like I say, my daughter, she runs everything. So little man, he ain't getting too much attention from me right now.

Q. This guy, how much fun is it having Bobby back here?

QUANDRE DIGGS: It's awesome. I mean, I know the young guy probably was tired of us talking him up last year about, you know, just who he is as a person, having him in the locker room, being able to lean and kind of depend on him.

And I still ask him hella questions, you know. I mean, so for me, I was talking to him all the time. And for me it's been big having him back, even if I'm not here, I still talking to him, still texting.

It's been dope. It's been dope for sure. I'm excited to have him back. Hopefully as an old man he can still make some plays out there.

Q. Old man, (indiscernible) young man.

QUANDRE DIGGS: Oh, my fault. Old man.

Q. Jamal being back with you guys, what's it like? How's he doing?

QUANDRE DIGGS: This week is dope because now everybody's here, you know what I mean? And everybody's running their own race. I know with Mal and J.B. are going through with injuries and rehab and stuff like that.

I talk to those guys, and having Mal back, it's been awesome. You guys know our relationship. You know it's different when 33 is out there. Just the energy, a contagious thing that he brings. And it's one of those things that I can't wait -- he's back out there "playing" playing, it's going to be fun.

I know he has big goals, which he should. And I'm excited to line up next to him and go back to work.

Q. What did you miss when the old man was -- what did you miss (indiscernible)?

QUANDRE DIGGS: I mean, it was just the leadership aspect. It's different when they look at you to handle everything now. And for me, now having him back, I can talk to him whenever -- I could always talk to him, whatever -- but I can see him in the locker room. We can chat about different stuff.

And maybe it's something I need him to handle that I couldn't handle, you know what I mean? So it's just different ways. I can look in front of me also and see 54 right there. You see a Hall of Famer. He was just talking about his nine All-Pros.

And you see somebody with accolades like that and it's just one of those things where you want to play ball with great players. And for me I'm being surrounded by great players. So that makes it easier and makes it more fun for me. Just having him here, it's been awesome.

Q. Do you think Bobby being back here helps you grow as a leader, (indiscernible) sets the leader role?

QUANDRE DIGGS: I think it gave me more gray hair. I'll say that. But it definitely did open my eyes to -- as a captain, people look at you different, expect you to do different things. For me, I'm just more of a guy that I kind of like do things my way.

And you do it, you do it the right way, but you feel like you do it the right way, which is your way. I think Bobby, he's more of a chill leader. I'm one of those I'm going to do it my way you watch me do it.

He can talk his talk but he can also walk his walk, I'm more a follow-me guy, and just go out and make plays.

So I think it definitely helped me grow, but I love having him back. That's why I lobbied so hard in the offseason.

Q. (Indiscernible) last year (indiscernible). How exciting does it make for the upcoming season?

QUANDRE DIGGS: If they let me go out there and they're making plays, and I can go get seven interceptions, it would be awesome to have him back. But they've got to do their job to help me get them seven interceptions. If they don't then I'm going to have to slap both of them.

Q. Why seven?

QUANDRE DIGGS: Seven, I always shot for six, and I ain't never got six. I always got five. I'm going to go for seven, and maybe I can land that sixth.

Q. You (indiscernible) talking about Jamal, but for you this offseason, how much (indiscernible) being healthy, doing all this stuff versus rehabbing and trying to get back?

QUANDRE DIGGS: It's been awesome. I can be done with all my work by 11:00. And I've got time to kind of relax and go get massages and do those different things, where last year was rehab until 11. Then get out on the field for an hour because you don't have a lot of time.

You can't do too much on your body without stressing that ankle out and making it sore where you can't even do anything the next day.

So it's been awesome. I've been able to get back to my normal training routine and hopefully it pays off.

Q. Your coordinator said he didn't think you were still (indiscernible) last season. (Indiscernible). Is that true?

QUANDRE DIGGS: I would say middle to the end of the season. You always want to feel like yourself. But it definitely was middle to the end of the season where I honestly felt like I can go out and make the plays that I need to make, and I could just trust that ankle that I can put it in the ground and I can just go and explode.

Q. (Indiscernible) before that?

QUANDRE DIGGS: Just the breaks, as a post safety you need your breaks, be able to trust your ankle, trust your feet. And I don't think I was at that point. As much as I worked -- I literally had a month offseason to get ready for a full season. It was kind of rushed. So I didn't get to do the drills and things I normally do in offseason.

Q. What's it been like to get to know Julian and learning how to play with him?

QUANDRE DIGGS: It's been cool. J Love is a really smart guy. So we sit in meetings, and I have a question or he has a question, just kind of ask each other and see what it is.

But you can tell he's definitely been studying his stuff. He knows what he's doing. I'm comfortable letting him make calls and things like that. It's been fun. He can play.

You guys saw him last year when we played them. He was making plays all over the field. So, excited to get to know him more during the year and we have a really good safety room.
