Josh Jobe

Weekday Press Conference

JOSH JOBE: How ya'll doing?

Q. Good, how are you?

JOSH JOBE: Yeah.

Q. Hard not to see the intensity that you play the game with. What does this year and the opportunities you've had this year meant to you?

JOSH JOBE: Can you repeat the question? I'm sorry.

Q. Yeah, what have the opportunities that you've gotten this year on defense and with this team meant to you?

JOSH JOBE: This opportunity mean a lot to me. You know, coming from practice squad, I had to (indiscernible) to play the game I love, you know. I'm very blessed for the opportunity I got, and just taking every advantage I have and just playing hard and do what whatever I got to do for the team.

Q. When you were on the practice squad did you have any doubts that this is ultimately the role you would end up playing?

JOSH JOBE: No. You know, coming in from Philly and coming to Seahawks I knew I had to work my way up, so just working on my craft, learning the playbook, and, you know, just doing what I got to do on scout team to make my teammates better.

Q. What do you see as similarities and differences between Nick Saban and Mike Macdonald?

JOSH JOBE: They kind of are alike, you know. Coach Saban and Coach Mike, they both leaders. You know, they just give me that energy to just believe in myself and just be me, be confident.

Q. Is there a similarity in the communication style between those two coaches?

JOSH JOBE: Not really.

Q. No?

JOSH JOBE: Pretty much no.

Q. What about Carl Brooks, you talked about obviously played with him in college and here. What kind of coach is he?

JOSH JOBE: Who?

Q. Carl Scott, sorry.

JOSH JOBE: What kind of coach is he?

Q. Yeah.

JOSH JOBE: He's a great defensive back coach, overall coach, you know. Besides ball, you know, Coach Scott is -- you know, he's a great person, great coach, family guy.

Just he always honest with us. Just to stay poised, stay grounded, and just play to your best ability.

Q. How do you think in your game has grown this year in the time you've been out there as a starter?

JOSH JOBE: I would say I've been playing well. You know, just getting to start, playing with the secondary, you know, I feel good about it, you know. I feel really good. But I still have more work to be done, and just keep getting better.

Q. What do you see as the challenge in containing or making sure that Caleb Williams doesn't get those yards this week?

JOSH JOBE: Whatever Coach call, got to execute.

Q. Is there something about his skillset that stands out when you watch film?

JOSH JOBE: One thing I can say, he have a strong arm, especially when he got out of the pocket and scramble. He's good at that; and staying in place as well.

Q. Your coach has told us about how detail-oriented you were with your mechanics and everything, and assignments. How important do you think that is to the success of the defense?

JOSH JOBE: That's very important. Know your keys. Know your assignment so you can play fast out there.

Especially just know your opponents and know what plays they run so you can be out there and play fast and communicate with your teammates.

Q. What point in your career did you know you were going to be a cornerback versus any other position?

JOSH JOBE: I would say -- I was always a safety growing up. Then with the recruiting process talking with coaches, talking to Coach Saban, I mean, he liked my skillset, how physical I am, so he wanted me at corner, so I couldn't do anything about it. I just had to control that and just work on the technique. Just play -- I guess just play. Not to much to say about it.

Q. Josh, can you talk about the competitiveness of the corner back room and the support you have for each other?

JOSH JOBE: All those, 'Spoon, Tre Brown, Woolen, we have a great secondary, great skillset. Everybody have different skillset, you know. Just help one another, you know. It's pretty much all I got.

Q. How did you end up in Connecticut for high school?

JOSH JOBE: How did I end up in Connecticut? I don't know the answer to that.
