Q. Can you explain what happened on the first interception? Looked like Ertz may have gotten bumped beyond the five yards. And can you explain why you two have struggled to get stuff going these last few weeks?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, I mean, the first interception, that's unfortunate. He ran into the linebacker there that was dropping, you know, I don't know if it was ICT or what.
But that's a timing throw, timing route. When he runs into the linebacker it's kind of a tough break. Got to live with that one.
As far as the targets and everything with him, it's one of those things I'm not worried about just because as far as chemistry goes, I feel great with Ertz. I think we've showed that over the years. It was just that was the type of day was it today and really last week, but I still feel confident that he's going to get open, get his going forward, and we can be better there.
Q. Why do you feel or why does it seem that you have more -- you're more in sync, chemistry with Travis than anyone else right now, and what can you say about his performance out there? Ten catches and a touchdown.
CARSON WENTZ: I think first of all, he's a beast. He showed up today, showed really last week the two big plays he had, they weren't a fluke. Kid is a baller. Made a lot of big plays and I was really proud of him and pumped for him.
As far as chemistry with him versus other guys, I feel great with all these guys. His number got called a lot more today because was in the right position. He made some great plays.
Q. Kind of a follow up on what with Travis. When he's having that kind of success in game, I think the one drive you got him on four or five straight passes, are you noticing that, that he's having the hot hand? Does that change your thinking to try to get him more involved?
CARSON WENTZ: You definitely notice it. At the end of the day I go where the defense dictates that I go with the ball. He was in the right spot for a lot of those. Couple play-action passes were designed for him and everything.
So, yeah, he had the hot hand today. Again, kind of just the way the defense -- the way it was flowing today. Like I said, he made some great plays, he's a heck of a player, and we're going to keep building on that.
Q. There of some stretches today where it seemed like you got into a rhythm that has been elusive this year and that you kind of -- I don't know if the final stats will show it -- but seemed like there were some stretches where you looked like your old self. Did you feel that? Are you getting into a rhythm you maybe haven't been able to grasp this year?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, I thought offensively obviously not the end result that we wanted. We left a handful of plays out there.
Think offensively we did some good things. We got a good rhythm going. We converted a lot of third downs. Came up short. Obviously not what we want and how we want to finish, but there are some things we can definitely build on, and getting into a rhythm today definitely helped us.
Q. You got the ball back with a little more than three minutes left after the Cre'Von LeBlanc fumble recovery. That looked like the chance right there to take over the game. Why didn't that happen?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, just didn't make enough plays, plain and simple. They made some good plays on defense and we just came up short. Hats off to them. We got to execute and finish the game better and we just didn't.
Q. Carson, when you guys were down by 31 to 14 you'd just thrown the interception and everything. How were you guys able to kind of come back? What were you able to do in those situations to get back in the game?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, stay tough, stay resilient. We knew we had some good things going offensively. The interception was kind of just a tough break how it played out. We knew we were still capable of moving the ball against that defense, and I think the O-line did a great job of setting te tone. We asked a lot of them against a really good front over there. I thought we did a good job of sustaining some drives and everything.
Again, just not the end result we were looking for.
Q. Big picture what are your thoughts on where this team is, what they're capable of? How to you walk away from this loss thinking about this team?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, first of all, a got to watch the tape. I walk away frustrated with the loss and where we are right now, but encouraged by some of these younger guys stepping up and making plays.
Obviously we've been depleted a little bit up front and guys have stepped up and done a great job. Joe of talked a lot about Travis and what he did. A lot of the young O-linemen are getting an opportunity and doing a great job.
I'm encouraged that we can keep building on this, and we'll find a way to keep turning this thing around.
Q. On the fourth down play where you tried the field goal, the long field goal with Jake, was there any discussion on trying to go for it there? I know you had a long way to go, I think five yards. Were you trying to lobby Doug to stay on the field there?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, I wasn't involved in that. I trusted coach and Coach Fipp, special teams coach, to make that call, and we had a lot of faith in Jake to get that one through.
That's just the way it happened.
Q. Obviously this is not the start you and this team wanted. The fact of the matter is that you guys are currently sitting had first place; you have an opportunity to hopefully get DeSean and Alshon back. When you look at this team and you look at going forward here, how much do you believe that a simple fix here and there and get your core players back on offense can really get this team driving in the right direction?
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, again, we got to watch the tape. I think there are some things to be encouraged about from today. We're so close. We're so close. Finishing some drives offensively, taking care the football. Defense is so close. Last week they had some big turnovers and things. It's right there. We're right there.
Playing against some good football teams and we can get this thing turned around and I'm confident that we will.
Q. I know that you guys do feel good that you can turn this thing around, but what's mood like in the locker room right now? What are guys saying to each other? You're in first place but it's only one win out of five games.
CARSON WENTZ: Yeah, I mean, we're frustrated. Don't get me wrong. This is not where we wanted to be, expected to be. We have high expectation for ourselves around here.
But guys are going to be critical of themselves and take accountability to where they can really improve and help this team get better.
I have all the confidence in the world in the coaching staff and the players to fix the little things and we'll get this thing going.
