Steelers 27, Broncos 19
Q. Review that last play.
VIC FANGIO: Looked like they had tight coverage everywhere and fourth down he had to take a shot and didn't work out.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Well, it was obviously critical. It was four points and, you know, we had our chances after that. We had a chance to pick it off, which would've wiped out their three, and we got to beat deep again on the third down and long.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Disappointing. We didn't play well enough on defense. You go on the road and give up 27 points you're not going to win many games.
Q. What was the difference in the second half?
VIC FANGIO: We started throwing it outside more and just got into a rhythm there when it became the fourth quarter game there. Much too late, though.
Q. What did you think of Courtland's as performance?
VIC FANGIO: I thought he played well. Didn't look like the ankle was bothering him much, and credit to him for answering.
Q. (Regarding Teddy.)
VIC FANGIO: You know, I don't think so. I mean, our whole office was in no rhythm. Only had a couple first downs the first half. He practiced Thursday and Friday, so I don't see that's an excuse.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, it's concerning. You know, we didn't move the ball very well at all until late there, so obviously it's a concern.
Q. What did you think the difference was this week? (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, he's a good runner. They've been committed to the run. They just haven't had it as much. They blocked us good, he ran it good, he's a good runner. We didn't play it well enough.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: That we've got to obviously start better, okay. We can't try and catch up being down as much as we were and wait to make some first downs on offense, stop some passes on defense, play the run better, et cetera.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: He got beat, okay? He had a bad day.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: No. They didn't -- was on the other sideline and they didn't give my much of anything. My view wasn't very good. They called it. You got to live with it.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, again, I didn't have a good view of it. I don't know if he thought he scored and he spiked for a touchdown. Again, an unusual penalty that had serious ramifications. But first and goal from the seven we got to be able to punch it in.
Q. (Regarding missed opportunities and penalties.)
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, we had a couple chances at some interceptions that we didn't pull in that obviously a game like this would've been very helpful. There were some missed opportunities.
But overall we just didn't play well enough.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, we were in a zone there and lost him in the middle of the zone, and we were manned up on the other side and there was a lot of room for him to run.
Q. (No microphone.)
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, I would have to look at it again, but possibly, yeah.
Q. What led to the early touchdown from Diontae? It was very similar to the week before.
VIC FANGIO: Yeah, their passing game, they made big plays outside the numbers to the wide receivers, and we knew we were going to have to have a good day there. We didn't.
