Teddy Bridgewater

Postgame Press Conference

Steelers 27, Broncos 19

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: Tough one, man. Hate to end it like that, especially as a quarterback, but as a team also. A lot to learn from the day. Just got to be better, start faster. We been preaching that over the past couple weeks, getting off to a fast start. Finally caught up to us today.

We were like 2 for 12 on third downs and only had one or two first downs in the first half. It's hard to win a game like that.

Obviously we got to just keep our head down and control what we can control, which is how hard we work, the way we approach each day, and got to come in with the mindset to get better. Went can't wait until the game is out of hand to have a sense of urgency. We can't wait until we're down.

We got come out shooting the way we played in the fourth quarter, give ourselves a chance to win a lot of games. The interceptions at the end of the game, just one of those plays, man, that defender covered it well. Just tried to give them a chance at least to make a play.

Covered it so well it wasn't really a window to throw a high ball outside. It just sucks, man, to end a game like that, but the fight that we saw in this team in the fourth quarter, it was impressive. So it's a lot of positive to take away from this one. Just can't let this feeling of losing linger.

Q. (No microphone.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: Once I cleared and passed all the tests and cleared protocol, was comfortable and competent playing this week.

Q. (No microphone.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: Right.

Q. (No microphone.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: I think got to be mindset. We just got to have some energy. We might need to do like the colleges and go goal line and pre-game or something, just bash heads or something to get the blood flowing, the juices flowing.

We'll figure it out this week. We got no choice. We're sitting here with an opportunity to go back home at 3-2. Wish we could have been 4-1, but we still got so much more in front of us.

Q. (No microphone.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: Honestly, just we got to execute better. That's all it is. Comes down to execution. When we're out there we just got to play fast, with a sense of urgency. We can't wait for the game to come to us. Just got to have that aggressive approach.

Q. What did you think of Courtland's today?

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: Yeah, definitely Court, Tim, those guys showed up big for us when we needed them. Making tough catches. Tim extended the ball on the fourth, getting the first down. Court catching the touchdown. Kendall coming in and scoring a touchdown.

Talk about having that next-man-up mentality and mindset. So many guys played for us today, got that experience. Yeah, Court, he just provided a spark to us, and hopefully we can just keep the momentum that he has going for the rest of the season.

Q. In the fourth quarter you guys opened it up. Could you do that earlier? Would you like to see him open up the offense a little bit more?

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: We'll watch the tape tomorrow and see what we could have done better, see where we struggled, what areas we struggled in. Obviously third down and starting fast.

But we'll watch the tape tomorrow and give all our comments and everything tomorrow.

Q. What have you noticed from the Steelers pass rush in comparison to other teams? (Indiscernible.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: It's a talented group. They have some stars on this front seven, D-line. You know, they're known for having pass rushers or stout defense. You obviously felt them when you're out there playing.

I think our guys did a good job of just competing too. We'll watch the tape like I'll say and I'll keep saying, watch the tape tomorrow and see how we could have been better, what stood out from them, from us.

Just keep moving.

Q. (No microphone.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: No, I had no chance. I probably should have just threw it to Beck in the flat to get it out fast. Maybe he catches it, get tackled.

The backer just came free. Obviously we had a miscommunication or something in that area. It's tough. That's a pivotal moment in a game where you get a big play, you get a penalty, and you get a negative play afterwards.

You're moving in the wrong direction. Obviously doesn't end well most times. A lot to learn in that situation. From me, offense, all the guys, got to just be better.

Q. (No microphone.)

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER: Yeah, it's very important just to put this losing streak to an end. Obviously no one plays the game to lose. No one likes the feeling of losing, especially after the game.

It's one of those things where we'll come together, leaders, captains of the team, and just come up with a plan of action of how we can shift the mindset, push the negative out of the way.

At the end of the day, you know, guys will run to their phones and hear how bad we are, how good we are, how good they played, how bad someone else played. All about what you believe, and that's why we'll come together, our leadership council, and control the narrative.

Because it's always -- never as bad as it seems and never as good as it seems. We just got to have that mindset, be the same person every day, win or loss, and help the team move in the right direction.
