Steelers 32, Seahawks 25
MITCH TRUBISKY: The offense going down there and getting being a touchdown in the first drive, and we executed well. Would have liked to go down the second drive and do the same thing, go 2 for 2, but I feel pretty good about where we're at and overall execution. O-line did a great job just communicating, and it was good to be out there live, and it was a lot of fun.
Q. Did you think you might get more than two series? Was that kind of plotted out?
MITCH TRUBISKY: We didn't know to be honest. I had the idea I was just going to play first quarter maybe into the second, and then after two series got taken out. It is what it is, and we scored on the first drive, so just go back and look at the second drive, see what we could have done better, but overall it was good.
Q. How well do you feel like what you guys have been working on in Latrobe translated onto the field tonight?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, it was good. I think we got a lot of our base concepts down, running and pass, and we executed those well tonight so the guys know them, and were able to go out there and execute. It doesn't matter what we call, the guys are comfortable with everything that we've been repping up to this point, so it's good to see, and not just the first group, the twos and the threes and the young guys up there, and guys who just got here this week were able to go out there and execute well.
It's definitely translating from practice into the game, and that's what you want to see.
Q. What was the emotion like, first drive, first opportunity here at the stadium?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, it was awesome. I was excited all day. I was waiting all day for the opportunity. Had to wait all around for the night game. I was just amped up, ready to go, and wanted to lead the team right down the field and score right away, and it was a good way to start the game and set the tone.
We finished strong as a group, so it was a fun game to be a part of, and it was awesome.
Q. Seemed like you had a good connection with Gunner. He was a guy that didn't get a lot of opportunities to be a receiver in New England. What do you like about what he brings to the table?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, he's shifty. He gets open. He's very quarterback friendly, and when he gets the ball in his hands, he has great run after catch. He's someone that you can rely on. You know he's going to be in the right place. Like he did on that 3rd down, made a guy miss and was able to extend the play. I'm glad he's getting the opportunity, and he really showed out tonight.
Q. How do you process tonight and carrying this into the next week?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, for sure. I think you enjoy the win as a team. I thought we played well in all aspects, and then you go back, you be critical on the film and see what we can get better at and work on that in practice this week going into preseason two.
Q. What was it like for the older guys watching Kenny get to have some fun there at the end?
MITCH TRUBISKY: It was awesome. I told him before the game, you always remember your first preseason game. They all kind of blend together after that, but I told him it's going to be a memorable one tonight, and we finished strong as a group, and you've got to be happy for him and the whole team, so that was awesome.
Q. It was only two series, but what did you think of the line in front of you and how they played?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, they did great. I thought we did a great job with communication, just giving me time, and we were able to convert a couple 3rd downs and we had some big runs there, as well. They were creating holes for the backs, and we had a couple explosives, so we're just going to keep getting better as a unit, and that group up front did a great job.
Q. What are your thoughts on McFarland, what he's brought tonight and through camp?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, all the backs are running hard. I think us going live in practice really translates to the game. Those runners, they run so tough, and they take care of the football, and they're hitting the holes when they're opening, so the O-line is doing a great job creating them for them, and those backs are making some great plays in open space. A-Mac, he was running hard tonight. He's tough to bring down. He's so quick and shifty, it's fun to watch him with the ball in his hands, and he's just going to keep doing those things when given those opportunities.
Q. How much confidence do you have in George and what he's been able to do in just a few weeks as a pro?
MITCH TRUBISKY: Yeah, for sure. He's standing out. He's making plays and he's definitely a guy you want to go to. Anytime the ball is in his area it's a big play opportunity.
We've just got to keep getting reps with him, keep giving him opportunities, and he's going to continue to do special things, so he's been really impressive up to this point.
