Baltimore Ravens 16, Pittsburgh Steelers 14
Q. What's going through your minds, you're going out there, your first NFL play is at one own one-yard line?
ANTHONY BROWN: Honestly, it's an opportunity for a 99-yard drive and try to get it out. Get the first down and keep working on it. Be all right.
Q. What was this week like knowing there was a good chance you were going to be the backup and then obviously get a chance and you play most of the second half?
ANTHONY BROWN: So Coach Urban and Coach Dixon, they had a plan as soon as I got here to make sure that I will be prepared within any situation, and it's been very consistent every week. So it didn't change with this week. And like JK said, even though not getting some of those reps, still being able to do extra work with Coach, and continue to have a plan and follow that process, was able to go out there and have some confidence.
Q. JK said you looked calm out on the field. Is that how you were feeling?
ANTHONY BROWN: I would say so. With their plan, it allows me to be calm and allows me to be confident in what we're calling, what I'm doing, and just being able to step forward and not even worry about it.
Q. Do you envision yourself playing the night before a game like this, knowing that you're probably going to be on the game day roster do you do that kind of stuff mentally?
ANTHONY BROWN: Absolutely. I mean, all week, I hear it every week. So you're two plays away. Just mentally preparing myself to be able to be out there and do what we did today and even get even better at it. So yeah, I envision it all the time.
Q. The nature of this rivalry, all the storylines that are swirling around, takes through your thought process as you're called into the game, where are you thinking and how do you block out all of the other stuff that has everybody else's attention?
ANTHONY BROWN: I don't know. It was -- it was really just trying to figure out whether Marcus got the touchback or it was on one-yard line and then from there, it was get ready and we're on the one-yard line, so just got to get it out. And making sure that we did that, and I would just say, Coach Urb made sure that I was ready for it and he did it.
Q. Coming in, first NFL game, helping a team in a playoff run and help them win against one of their biggest rivals?
ANTHONY BROWN: It was extremely gratifying. I appreciate Coach Harbaugh for trusting in me and believing in me. Today was a testimony to them for actually bringing me here and believing in who I was.
Q. You played at a high level in college. What made the decision to sign here? Was there something that tipped the scales when you did?
ANTHONY BROWN: Organization as a whole. And then just the talks with Coach Urban, Coach Roman and Kerry Dixon when I first had my 30 visit here. It was unbelievable. They said they had a plan for me and lo and behold, here we are in Pittsburgh and we got it done.
Q. As a practice squad player, what's it like for you from, say, September, October, when you look at the depth chart, you're third, chances are you are not going to be in the 53. What's your mentally through what whole week-to-week-to-week for two months?
ANTHONY BROWN: I've been hearing it my whole I've from my father: Stay ready so you don't have to get ready. This was just a testimony to that and on top of it, just like I said, following the plan, following the process and making sure that I was ready whenever this moment came.
Q. Can you share, did you get any meaningful messages from friends and family?
ANTHONY BROWN: A lot and I don't want to disclose any of the messages but a lot of gratifying messages.
Q. How would it feel if six days from now you're making your first NFL start against Cleveland?
ANTHONY BROWN: It would be great but like Coach said, Snoop sounds ready and I have all the confidence in the world in him. If it's my turn, it's my turn, just have to work at it.
