T.J. Watt

Postgame Press Conference

Jacksonville - 20, Pittsburgh - 10

Q. T.J., what was it that Jacksonville was able to do, especially to kind of maintain drives in that second half against you guys?

T.J. WATT: Continue to convert. Continue to move the chains. I think it was pretty obvious we had a problem stopping it.

Q. They said nothing schematically was different without Minkah in there. What was the effect of losing him that early in the game?

T.J. WATT: Any time you lose an All Pro player, a guy who is a leader in the back and a leader in the defense is a big blow, but it's one that we have to be able to manage.

Whether it's with one guy, whether it's with two or three guys, we always preach the next man up mentality. Everybody's in the meetings. Everybody's at practice. It's all about the next man and what he's able to do and fill in that spot.

Q. Any idea what happened on the touchdown from your vantage point? Was there a breakdown?

T.J. WATT: I don't know. I have to watch the film before I give any breakdown.

Q. Did you guys thinking coming into it that Engram was going to be a big part of their game plan or just taking advantage from where you guys were?

T.J. WATT: We knew he was a great pass catcher. We respected him coming into the game but weren't able to stop him today.

Q. What's the level of frustration when calls are happening and things are maybe outside of your control, especially when the defense does its job? How do you deal with that, and how do you move forward?

T.J. WATT: Continue to try to do my job, and the job is to go out there and play solid defense, try to deliver the ball. Try to get off the field as quickly as possible, try to flip field position.

I don't have time to look around and point blame. None of us are playing the way we should right now.

Q. How difficult is it to absorb and kind of move on from a loss like this on a short week?

T.J. WATT: No time to sit and sulk. We have a game on Thursday. That's part of the beauty of the NFL. We have to move past it, but at the same time, we also can't just can it. We have to look at the film and learn from it.
