T.J. Watt

Postgame Press Conference

Cardinals - 24, Steelers - 10

Q. T.J., do you feel like you let one get away there, considering the situation you guys were in after the way you've been playing and having a good opportunity?

T.J. WATT: We got our ass kicked. I don't know if it got away from us. We got pummeled today.

Q. How deflating was the 99-yard drive after you guys got stopped, how deflating was that?

T.J. WATT: It's tough. Can't happen. Need to get off the field quicker. Going to have a lot of film here to quickly digest and move on. Thursday night game, so don't really have time to sit here and feel sorry for ourselves. We need to make corrections and move forward.

Q. With Minkah coming back, was there even a small amount of rust from the communication and/or a physical standpoint with Minkah?

T.J. WATT: No, it had nothing to do with Minkah.

Q. The play that you were hurt or that you appeared to be hurt, you were pretty flagrantly held there. Did that contribute at all?

T.J. WATT: NFL has something against me, so I don't want to talk any more negatively against them. I don't know what I did, but I'll leave it at that.

Q. You've been tested with injuries at linebacker. You lose another guy with E-Rob. How does that affect things with the communication standpoint, the whole defense?

T.J. WATT: It's tough. Anytime you're challenged in the depth, it's always the next-man-up mentality. But there's only so many reps to go around this time of year in practice. And that's the blunt way of putting it.

It's hard when you get depleted inside. But it's not an excuse. We need to have guys step up in situations. That's including myself. And we weren't able to do that today.

Q. Was the team ready enough for this game?

T.J. WATT: I feel ready for every game.

Q. Not you. The team as a whole.

T.J. WATT: I feel the team is ready every week.

Q. Did you feel like there was some splash out there that you guys weren't able to come home with? Or were they doing something to limit your ability to impact the game in way?

T.J. WATT: Credit to them. Anytime you put up that many points, you have a 99-yard drive, that means they're doing some things right and we have some things to correct.
