CJ STROUD: ... it's my brother in Christ. And it's good to see him back out there, get him the ball, let him do what he do.
So very happy for him, and it's just amazing to see all the stuff he's been through to persevere through that and make a big-time play. That's who he is and much more to come.
Q. As the leader of the offense, did you feel you accomplished what you wanted?
CJ STROUD: Just locking out for us. We knew it wasn't going to be perfect. We knew we were missing a lot of guys. I was really just trying to go out there feel like you're in the game.
By the time week one comes, you're more comfortable out there. I thought we accomplished exactly what we wanted. And of course it's cool to come out with a win and just keep going from here.
Q. (Question about the bigger guys)
CJ STROUD: He's tough. He's resilient. You can't deny. Just pure, one, God-given talent but just hardworking, the hard work he puts in day in, day out and I think every time he touches the field, you see it's put on display.
So I think it's just a start for him and he's going to continue to grow and grow, and it's amazing he's one of my best friends back on the field.
Q. DeMeko talked about the bonding aspect. Can you talk about the camaraderie and the brotherhood, time spending together.
CJ STROUD: Most definitely. I think we grew as a brotherhood. That's very important. That's all we had out here was just us. Spent time playing cards and dominos, having fun, playing the game, just really enjoying one another, and it's been a blessing. But we are ready to get back to Houston now.
Q. When you know you're playing limited snaps, do you go in with the purpose of I'm going to work on these two offensive series, how do you approach that?
CJ STROUD: Most definitely. Our coaches gave us a bull's-eye. I thought I did halfway decent with it. I think when you go out there you have limited plays, you want to execute at a high level and make sure the ball is going where it's supposed to and really just playing fast and using your instincts. That's how I felt today. It wasn't perfect but definitely was good to be out there.
Q. (Inaudible) told us the other day that during training camp, he was giving you scripted plays where you may not be able to go to your first read, make you go through all three of your reads. How does that translate over to game time?
CJ STROUD: It's huge. Defenses try to take away that first option as much as they can. The better you can be with not only just progressions but also just working the pocket and making the O line right, and that's all the things we've been working on this camp. Just have to continue to grow there.
Q. You all played well. Anything you think the offense (inaudible) any fine tuning in particular?
CJ STROUD: Everything. Training camp. What we're here for. It's not going to be perfect. We've got a great defense keeps us honest every day. We do the same with them. Iron sharpens iron.
Q. Who was winning in dominos?
CJ STROUD: I actually play with the staff. I'm rusty. I haven't played in years. It was fun.
