Bills 9, Steelers 3
Q. Can you take us through that first sack where you stunted there from the outside linebacker position?
NICK HERBIG: Yeah, that was a good call by TA. That was something we had in the game plan, especially when I'm out there with Keanu. That's like my brother. Just being on that same side and having that chemistry, we knew it was going to hit a little bit quicker. Just opened up, and I was able to make a play.
Q. That second one, is that sort of the embodiment of when Coach Tomlin says the strength of the pack is the pack because you finished off what looked like Larry O and Keanu maybe had started?
NICK HERBIG: Yeah, Larry O got there first and then I was there next, and he was starting to slip out a little, and then Keanu came over the top and finished him, so I think that's just a perfect picture of what we are in Pittsburgh, what we're striving to be, and that's collective, that's aiming to do something great here.
Q. You were a very technical rookie last year. You had several different moves. It seemed like you could talk through them and think through them a lot. What things are you able to see now this year that you maybe didn't see last year?
NICK HERBIG: Yeah, I think just recognizing alignments and pre-snap things, stuff I wasn't keen to last year, and I think that's coaching and being around guys like T.J., Alex, and seeing how they go about their business and just trying to take mental notes of that.
Q. Markus Golden was here and he's out already. How ready do you feel to step into that role?
NICK HERBIG: Yeah, I think there's never going to be a true time when you're like, okay, I'm ready. When the lights come on, you've got to show up. You've just got to stay ready so you don't got to get ready.
Q. I heard Tomlin gave you a "Mr. Herbig" tonight, calling you that as you came off the field?
NICK HERBIG: Yeah, that's probably like top five best feelings in the world I'd say.
Q. After two games what's the feeling from the defensive side how you guys have executed?
NICK HERBIG: There's a lot of good stuff on tape, a lot of stuff that we need to clean up. We need to be better on the edges, need to be better at tackling, wrapping up, getting the whole gang to the ball. There's obviously ups and downs, but I like where we're trending.
Q. Is getting yelled at by Tomlin one of the worst feelings in the world?
NICK HERBIG: Yes and no because you know he cares if he's yelling at you, so if he's getting on you, you know he cares, and he just wants nothing but the best for you. But yeah, it's not good to get yelled at by him.
Q. Obviously your brother couldn't play tonight. Did you have any motivation going out there playing for him, too? It seemed like you came out with your hair on fire.
NICK HERBIG: Yeah, anytime I get a chance to strap the helmet up, I feel like I have the whole state of Hawai'i on my back, like from my brother to my parents, my grandparents, everybody that raised me and made me who I am, brought me up in this life. I feel like I just have that whole community on my back. I'm really going out there for a bigger purpose.
Q. What are your thoughts going back to Latrobe, learning from a veteran like James Harrison?
NICK HERBIG: That was awesome. He's obviously a Hall of Famer. He's a legend here in Pittsburgh. Just being able to pick his brain for a little bit and just get some new tools in my toolbox that I can use.
