Beanie Bishop Jr.

Postgame Press Conference

Steelers 37, Jets 15

Q. Beanie, walk us through your first interception. Seemed like you were in a zone and you were kind of waiting on it. Was that a look you were waiting for throughout the week?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Yeah, you know, A-Rod, he likes to -- whenever he sees the middle of the field open he likes to throw the ball in there and I can't remember if it was last week or a couple weeks ago, he threw the ball right at Buddy's helmet and kind of gave him a back shoulder pass, so just being able to see that stuff on film and just being able to react, know that it's coming, that's just how I played it.

Q. Does it get any better than first interception off a guy like Aaron Rodgers?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: No, he's one of the hall of fame quarterbacks -- well, he's a hall of fame quarterback. Got a lot of respect for that guy and just to be able to get not one but two of them off of him is crazy.

Q. Did you think you were going to score on the second one?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Yeah, guys were giving me hell about not running fast, but I told him have they ever seen Le' Veon Bell run the ball? It's patience, you know? (Laughter) And coaches, they got on me earlier this week. They was like man, don't cut back in there with all the offensive line men. I'm like why not? Those guys don't work on tackling.

Q. Leading up to Russ, Russ and the offense say thank you, right? Do they say thank you?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Yeah, for sure. They said you got two assists.

Q. Well, did you feel the sense in this stadium surrounding Russ and that offense and then for you to come out and make that first one, like it totally changed the course of the game. I don't know if you felt that.

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Yeah for sure and that was something that we focused on on defense, at least trying to score ourself and getting the ball and obviously you know we have a go board on the room for each game and checking that box off helps us win.

Q. Speaking of the game, going against Aaron Rodgers, he knows where the rookie is. What were your thoughts? What were your emotions in the lead-up to this game?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: I knew the guys in the slot were going to be hot regardless. I play in the slot so I just had to prepare right and be where I'm supposed to be.

Q. Beanie, what does it mean to have a game like this after the last Sunday night game? It felt like maybe the Cowboys were targeting you and trying to exploit maybe some match-ups there to have a rebound performance like that tonight?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: You know, that means a lot and I still have to go out next week and prove that I'm a capable player. That's obviously teams are going to still attack me because I'm the young guy in the group. We have great veterans Minkah, DeShon, D. Jack. Guys like that -- Kazee. Kazee's really been in my ear a lot telling me just go out there and play ball. Be you. You're not here for no reason.

Q. -- talked a lot about you guys watching film as a group. Do you guys -- you guys obviously watch film at the facility and everything. Do you watch them away from the facility together or is that something you do on your own and come together and talk about it?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: You know, we come together. Obviously guys have wives and kids and stuff like that, but when we do meet together, we communicate and even throughout the plays and just giving different calls and stuff like that to make sure our communication is good.

Q. You said Le' Veon Bell was on your mind when you were running. The guys were saying it was Deion Sanders. You were high-stepping.

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Yeah, yeah, that's because I was setting up the blocks.

Q. (Inaudible) was saying in the locker room he's seen you make plays like the two plays you had in practice numerous times. What kind of work have you put in during the week to have a night like tonight?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Just going book looking at the fame, looking at how the teams attack me, attack us as a defense and just being able to be where I'm supposed to be. They ran their play, the play that I caught a pick on, they ran that play when they was in Green Bay so obviously them acquiring Davante Adams, we had that on our mind so just being able to be right there and make plays.

Q. So Beanie, what did you do with the interception balls?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: I got both of them. We didn't have a silver Sharpie for me to be able to ask A-Rod to sign it. I don't know where he went after the game. It was just so hectic.

Q. Did you get a piece of that second one before he bobbled it?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: The pass?

Q. Yeah.

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Nah. I affected the throw, though.

Q. Back to April, your name doesn't get called in the draft. Is there a point -- you're a confident guy, but was there a point where the vision to get to a game like this was a little fuzzy between now and then?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: Mm-hmm. No, just being able to have that confidence. Growing up where I grew up in Louisville, not a lot of guys make it here and just always have that chip on my shoulder. I don't think anything better could have happened to me than going undrafted, honestly.

MODERATOR: One more.

Q. So previously you said that you wanted to get the ball signed by Aaron Rodgers and you failed. Do you think you're going to keep trying? How are you going to go about it if you're going to keep trying to get it?

BEANIE BISHOP JR.: I know a couple dudes on that team so try to get in his ear, maybe those guys will talk to him for me and hopefully he'll be a nice guy and get it signed.

MODERATOR: All right. Thank you. That's it, guys.
