Steelers - 18, Ravens - 16
Q. Patrick, were the emotions what you thought they would be today?
PATRICK QUEEN: Yeah, I think at the beginning, I thought back then I would be a little more pissed off. I woke up this morning, and I didn't feel any anger. I just felt content with life and the game and just being where I'm supposed to be. I think outside-in. In the past, I wasn't thinking. God put me in this place for a reason. I was just heated at the situation that occurred.
So I just gave my faith to God and trusted Him that I was in the right place for a reason.
Q. When you pictured this game for weeks and months, is it how you expected it to go for you?
PATRICK QUEEN: Absolutely. You dream about plays, and some days they don't happen. Everybody today was you're going to get one. This was my dad's birthday too, he was like you've got to get me one.
It's just crazy how things work out, though. Knowing I had to come out here and support my team and play as hard as I can for them and just do my job.
Q. What's it like, you played with Lamar for so long, and you're part of the process of basically shutting that offense down, No. 1 scoring offense and they did basically nothing.
PATRICK QUEEN: Yeah, it's big. Just being on that side and coming to this side is big. Knowing what Lamar can do, knowing what the offense can do, especially with all the weapons and how much older everyone is now, it's not that young Ravens team anymore.
It's definitely a huge game, knowing how this division goes and how it turns out. We've got another one Thursday, so it's definitely a huge game.
I think our defenses went out there and trusted us to do our job. Nobody tried to do anything different. Nobody tried to be superman. We just went out there and trusted each other and balled.
Q. Can you walk us through the forced fumble. You were close to the Ravens sideline after you got it. Was there anything mentioned?
PATRICK QUEEN: No, I didn't say anything to their side. I took off the whole complete opposite way. I think my mom was in the stands on that side. She was like, Bring me the ball if you get a turnover. I blacked out. I grabbed the ball and took off and blacked out. She's probably going to be pissed at me when I get home. I'm not going to get no home-cooked meal for a minute.
But everything was how it was supposed to be. I have no anger or animosity towards them. It's just football.
Q. Did you ask to be the captain?
PATRICK QUEEN: Not asked, told me. I just went out there and did what he told me to do.
Q. Does it mean a lot to you knowing he thought of you that way?
PATRICK QUEEN: It is, just knowing what he said, I saw what he said, just knowing that. At the end of the day, the captain was chose for a reason, but I definitely do respect and appreciate what he did for me.
Q. Did you get the game ball?
PATRICK QUEEN: Definitely did, yeah. I'm thankful for that too.
Q. You guys put a lot of trust in Payton. How about a rookie stepping up in that situation?
PATRICK QUEEN: That's all pro play. Plays like that, that's not normal. To focus, to be able to know Justice, run with him step for step and make a play like that, that's all pro stuff. That's Pro Bowl plays. For a rookie to make a play like that, that's insane.
Q. How was it for Justin to play the role of Lamar during the week?
PATRICK QUEEN: You talk about Justin Fields? Yeah, he gave us a great look. I think Wednesday he didn't run around as much. He just stuck to the plan. Thursday he came out just scrambling, scrambling, scrambling. Just brought us in, who pull up, who don't pull up. Who pulls in zone. We kept practicing and practicing, and when offense was gone, we took time and practiced it some more with coaches and players. He was definitely a huge help in this.
Q. What is it like for the totality of this defense to contain the No. 1 offense when they have all these weapons and you're not getting a whole lot of help offensively?
PATRICK QUEEN: I think it was good team ball. The offense did a good job of field position. The defense came out and did our job and played team defense. Everybody understood their assignments and just played a great team defense.
Every single guy, like I said, just did our job. Nobody wanted to be superman. Nobody wanted to try to do too much. We knew the threats. We knew Derrick. I think he still had a lot of yards and some plays that we want back from that. Two plays Lamar got also. Still plays there that we could get back and be better on. Overall, I think we had a pretty good day.
Q. Called timeout before the two-point conversion. Could you walk us through your mindset against a versatile player like that.
PATRICK QUEEN: Just seeing he came out. I think it was tackled over. Justice was in the backfield. He was wide. I think Marcus was outside too. They were quick this way to get everybody flowing. Lamar was running to the line of scrimmage. I think he was able to do a jump pass, I can't remember to who. Maybe the guy who reported eligible. Then called timeout. We just understood like everybody just do their job. We ain't got to do nothing spectacular. Get out there and make a stop.
Joey, who's usually the quiet one, he stopped them and two-point conversion. He gave everybody confidence to go out there and get the stop.
Q. Lamar, it's amazing how he's 1-4 against the Steelers now. Did you see anything about not being part of it, being the other side of it, seeing how whatever reason, limiting him or?
PATRICK QUEEN: Being on the other side, just I don't know. We had game plans, and the game plans just didn't work. It's just -- it's hard. It's hard. Seeing him and his emotion after the games, I know he really wants these wins, especially in division. Give him all the credit. He's a great player, MVP, but Pittsburgh just has a plan.
Q. Did you talk to John Harbaugh after the game?
PATRICK QUEEN: No, sir.
