Jake Browning

Press Conference

Broncos - 33, Vikings - 6

Q. Jake what do you take from those moments today?

JAKE BROWNING: You never really know until you watch a film, but obviously the play that stands out is (indiscernible) missing the inside on an out route to the field. And getting a feel for if he's squatting, we need to move on from that.

We'll see the film. But I think even if I threw a perfect ball, I think he still makes the play on it because he was squatting so hard. So being able to read his demeanor and his drop and know that earlier in the game, called -- had the same route. Guy squatted on it. Said no to it there. Ended up scrambling and getting a safety.

But just getting a feel for his demeanor and then not just saying, all right, this is the coverage, this is where the ball's supposed to go and just throwing it. You've got to get a feel for the demeanor. But other than that, tried to play on time, tried to put the ball where it's supposed to be.

Like I said, you never really know until you watch the film. It's never as good as you thought, never as bad as you thought. So we'll see.

Q. You had been in pretty good position, looked like, to be the backup quarterback. Do you think today was anything of a lost opportunity for you?

JAKE BROWNING: Yeah, I think it was definitely a lost opportunity. I think if you don't put any points on the board, yeah, I mean, it's a missed opportunity for sure. As far as the competition and all that, I think for me it's just day-to-day. I've been doing that for the last two years. Feel like I've gotten a lot better doing that. And we have an off day Sunday and Monday will be ready to roll. And come back with some piss and vinegar. And a little pissed off, missed an opportunity and didn't play as well as I hoped.

Q. Zim said you're going to scrimmage against each other this coming week. What do you think you can learn just from the way the team came out today and take that and remedy that in the scrimmage this week?

JAKE BROWNING: I think I could come out with a little more fire. I was trying to get a feel for what it was going to be like. I hadn't played a game in a year and a half or so, so I was trying to get a feel for what the right avenue or approach was as far as demeanor.

But as far as scrimmaging, yeah, good, let's go. Let's scrimmage every single day. Let's go live every day. Whatever it is, I would like that to happen. And, for me, I think it's just more opportunities to show that I can play. I still feel like I can play at a high level and be a legit backup this year. And so keep playing well and not let one bad outing and bad throw derail all that. But definitely come back ready to fight. And everybody's going to have some bad throws, some good throws and staying even keeled but when you have bad ones, definitely responding in a way that's going to help your play improve.

Q. How do you think Rose looked, kind of being a workhorse at running back?

JAKE BROWNING: We had someone, I think, someone was out early and so he ended up having to take a lot of the reps. Like I said, never know until you watch the film, but just as far as carrying that workload, it's admirable. And it was a good opportunity for him to show that he could run the ball pretty well.
