Lions 17, Vikings 19
Always good to get a win. There is certainly a lot that we can improve upon as a team, as an offense. A lot we can learn from it. It's a lot easier coming into tomorrow after a win to correct those things than after a tough loss, so proud of the way we fought.
Thought our defense did a great job all game long. Just glad we won.
Q. You had a moment after the game with Mike Zimmer; what was that about?
A. It was just celebrating with him. Just fired up.
Q. Take us through the drive that led to the winning field goal there.
A. It was really only two plays, so two quick plays, great protection. Adam did a great job finding a soft spot in the zone, and Greg made a tremendous kick.
So it was just kind of quick and came down to making that kick, and he made it.
Q. You guys work on the two-minute drill every day. What's your confidence level coming on the field with 30 seconds left?
A. You know, I've always played this game one play at a time. You know, regardless of the situation you just think through how many time outs do we have, how many yards do we need, how much clock do we have, what's the play call, what's my read.
Just kind of systematically go through it, regardless of the situation.
Q. Are you thinking like before the drive even starts that your target line is the 35 line and work backwards from there?
A. Well, beggars can't be choosers. You're going to do what you can get and get down as far as you can. The situation with the clock and the timeouts and the guys we needed, you just know you need a productive first play and go from there.
Q. Kirk, with the confidence you guys have in the two minute, the way you march down, you wish you got a chance to do the same thing at the end of the first half there?
A. I mean, coaches are going to decide what to do and we're going to go with it. We trust them and that's their call.
Q. Greg Joseph has both made and missed a couple crucial kicks already this year. Today gets carried off the field on the shoulders of his teammates. What's it like to see a guy like that that's had ups and downs get a high like this?
A. I think we've all had them. If you play in this league long you're going to live through the highs and you're going to live through the lows. I just believe that tough times don't last, tough people do. Greg is a tough person.
Q. You were having a lot of success with Justin in the first half today. Did you adjust anything in the second half that made it harder to move the ball as much?
A. They play a lot of two-deep and crown Justin, so it's essentially double coverage. Several times routs, Madison got the ball, C.J. got the ball. Justin is the design, but they take him away.
Q. Was it similar with Thielen or was there something else affecting your guys connection?
A. Yeah, a lot of two-deep, and also had a big screen to Adam that's called back. You know, we have few opportunities, but a lot of two-deep took it away.
Q. What was it like to get Christian Darrisaw in the game there? What did you see from him?
A. I mean, I'm playing, so I can't really tell you. Great to have him in there, though.
Q. The offense gets back the way you guys were playing, you know, Arizona has an awesome pass rush. Didn't seem to be an issue. Seattle you guys whip them around the field. How you guys get back to that version versus what happened the last two weeks?
A. You got to look at each individual possession of why we get stopped. It's a combination of things. It's never any one thing. There will be a lot to correct and that's what tomorrow and early this week will be all about.
Q. What did you see on tape on the interception?
A. I just think it was probably two aggressive. I'm hot, said no to a couple other guys, and just wanted to rip it into K.J. hot. Didn't have his eyes yet. I just think when you don't have his eyes you can't do it. You got to just dirt it and live for the next play.
That's basically what happened.
Q. How important was this win just from the standpoint that 1-4 would've been a very tough hole to dig out of?
A. You know, they're all important, so they all count one. Just got to stack up as many as you possibly can.
Q. On that pick was the pass and the motion an option or was that only a fake?
A. On that specific play, that was a fake.
