Kliff Kingsbury

Cardinals Postgame Press Conference

Minnesota - 34, Arizona - 26

Q. Could you just take us through that last drive there, the sequence. What happened?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: As far as?

Q. Just not being able to move the ball down the field.

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Yeah, I thought we moved it down, just took a sack and the penalty for the crack back. That obviously hurt. You can't do that.

Had it down there close. They sacked us in there and scored at the end. The penalty, that's a back breaker when you do it in that situation. You know you can't crack back like that, pushing back 15 like that. It's tough.

Q. Kliff, you guys made a point earlier about not turning the ball over. It seemed like that really got in your way today.

KLIFF KINGSBURY: No doubt. You can't put yourself in those situations on the road against a good team. Putting ourselves inside our own 40 twice, we can't do that.

Q. Did you think you were past that at this point?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: No, it just was what it was. We just didn't execute at a high level. Had some opportunities. Got to give them credit. They came out and had a good plan. Moved the ball early. Our guys fell in just crucial situations.

Q. Why is it so hard to get off to those better starts?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: That's a great question. Something my people will keep looking at. Last year we were great at it. This year we've struggled. We've got to get better because against these good teams on the road, we can't do that week in and week out.

Q. How much were you guys affected by missing guys on the offensive line?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: It's tough. I thought our guys battled, but lose three of those starters, a lot of the pro bowl type players, it's not going to be easy on the road.

But the guys battled. Everybody's dealing with injuries this time of year.

Q. How did you see the interceptions, like bad throws?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: I'll have to take a look at it. The one backed up, he had somebody in his face. Obviously the one that sailed over Ertz's head. I'll have to look at film to see exactly what happened.

The turnovers, we need to get good at not turning it over. Those are tough in those situations.

Q. Kliff, losing the ball down the field looked like it was pretty frustrating. What was going through your mind at that moment?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Yeah, guys are working hard, playing hard. Just when you continue in critical situations to make mistakes. Coaches are working on it. Keep working hard.

Proud of the effort. Guys are playing hard and playing to win. Attitude's been great. It's just frustrating when mistakes continue to happen.

Q. Looked like Patrick continued to jaw at the sidelines. What was it he said?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: He's a guy that everybody has a ton of respect for, same with Jordan Hicks. Great teammates and great players for this organization. So any time he can light a fire.

Q. Did he cross the line at all with any of that?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: I didn't hear anything that did.

Q. Kyler was wearing a wristband today. Did that help with some things in terms of any of the process?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Yeah, I think, as we work through this huddling, we're going to continue to smooth it out for us and make it as efficient as possible.

Q. It still seemed like you had to burn some timeouts as the play clock was winding down. Is that something you guys working on?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Yeah, we're working on it. Any time you're on the road in this environment, it's tough to hear. There's different things going on. Having six starters out from the offense too, it's tough.

Getting guys in and out, we've got to do that better for sure.

Q. The way your defense had been playing the last several weeks, was it a little bit of a shock seeing Minnesota moving the ball down the field?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: No, it's a great offense. They're doing a great job at their team. Kirk is playing at an All Pro level and getting the ball to the right places.

Q. The crowd noise affected the shotgun snap that Kyler had?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: No, that was just a miscommunication. That's all it was. Can't happen honestly. Once again, crucial situations, we're down there.

Same thing with the third and one earlier, we jump offsides and take a sack. We can't do that against good teams.

Q. For Rondale to get more open down the field instead of more on the sideline? What helped Rondale get freed up to be open down the field?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: He just did a good job finding the openings. He's got a great feel. We know what he can do after he catches the ball. Last week he played more outside. This week he just went inside, and I thought he did a nice job of making things happen there.

Q. How much more does a loss like this burn when there's so many self-inflicted mistakes?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: It's been that way all season, I think, whether it's penalties, crucial situations, turnovers, things of that nature.

Like I said, effort has been outstanding, just not clean enough in any phase to get it done. We've just got to keep working at it.

Q. When it's not clean like this at this point in the season, whose fault is that?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Everybody. Coaches and players have to keep working and find a way in those crucial situations to make the correct plays. Coach has got to call the right plays.

Q. It's hard to celebrate a loss, but what was your angle like on Hop's running catch?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Any time the ball gets near him, you expect him to catch it. That's what he brings to this team. It's a different level of confidence for the offense when he's out there. Hopefully he can keep building rapport and be even better.

Q. (Indiscernible) signal called in certain places at a time. Does he do that a lot throughout the game?

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Do what?

Q. It looked like he was signaling to you to call certain plays at certain times.

KLIFF KINGSBURY: Yes, definitely. He'll have a future as a play caller.
